4.Is the stock the water left over from boiling the beef and vegetables?

5.What's vermicelli and soup tureen?

6.What type of mustard should I use?

7.Bit confussed about the the gherkin bit. Do I dip the gherkin in the mustard, or do I put put a little bit of mustard on the plate with gherkin laying next to it?”

“Lisa,
The snow in 94 in Tokyo was exceptional then.
We tried to drive but the roads were completely unnavigable.
Of course many of the audience couldn't make it too.
I do remember that a hoard of UK and US models managed it as they took us out later to those free drinks clubs they had then.
It was sheer coincidence that my German friend Sabrina was able to come to the meet with Reno.so I am not normally in that situation.
I too loved and played Pretty Flamingo in the sixties,I started playing in 63 and that was one of my favourite songs, also loved 54321 by Manfred Mann.
Hey I sound like your dad now,...... (and probably am)
Guitar wise a nylon string classical guitar doesn't hurt your fingers too much,as they have a low tension and are soft strings.
A steel strung guitar will make your fingertips sore, but that is inevitable if you play each day.
The fingertips harden and lose the sensation in time.
Also I'm guessing that you have nails,(unless you're a biter)they are a problem too.
Have to trim them and wear falsies.
Will keep you posted about Kim,it was to do with your homeland actually.
Love,
Steve.”

“Hi Steeeeeve,
(That's blonde-speak for "Hello Steven")

No snow in Tokyo yet. Coming from the sub-tropics, I generally don't like it when it gets too cold, but really enjoying this nice crisp refreshing feeling when I step outside (hope you understand what I mean there.) Very rare to snow in Tokyo, and when it does, very sloshy and hard to walk around in. First time I saw snow fall from the sky was here in Tokyo in 1998, and being a little drunk at the time, thought I could see moths flying around in the sky! (everyone was laughing AT me, as usual!!)

Saw you in the pics - couldn't stop laughing seeing you in the corner surrounded by all these attractive ladies. Very ROCK STAR Steve!

Thanks for the guitar advice.
Dad tried to teach me when I was a little girl, but I complained that the strings were hurting my fingers. He could sing and play this really lovely Manfred Man song to me called Pretty Flamingo - very nice memory.

I keep telling everyone about Steve Byrd-san. Steve-san this, Steve-san that. Oh Steve could probably play this ... Steve, Steve Steve,
Steve played with Kim Wilde for most of her career - Steve Steve Steve Steve Steve. So now Dr.Nakamatsu wants to learn how to play the guitar - and believe me, he is a boy who has, and can do EVERYTHING!

Went to a little town called Jimbocho, which is known as guitar heaven. All you can see are miles of guitar shops lined
down the street. Very hard to know how one six string guitar differs from the next.
Some look very flash - very good for the ego I'm sure!

Hope you do play with Kim, Steve, cause her fans just seem to love you!

"Oh." says James, considering. Then looking down at his own day-glo orange sword. "Does it mean this color is, like, so five-minutes-ago? I'm so embarrassed! Wouldn't be seen dead with it now!" And off he threw the sword as far away as he could, with such vigor it got stuck into a rock from which no one could pull it for years, thus prompting a whole new legend and quite a new trend known in latter years as "King Arthur chic" - aka "in & out" in King Henri the 3rd's court. “Hi all. Mmm, Pat. What should I do with you after you wrote this extremely comprehensive review of our pub meeting? Virtually shake your hand over the Internet, that's what! I love the way you mentioned all these little details which I either failed to notice or forgot about. I did enjoy the meeting but, being an "observer" type of person, I usually sit and quietly watch everybody else, enjoying the atmosphere.

As for my hero Steve, what I would really love to do is take guitar lessons from him and play something together. Preferrably Kim's songs at a Kim's gig. Yes, I've got this over-ambitious idea of playing in Kim's band and rock the stage to songs like Hangin' On and View From A Bridge. Or at least play in a band and cover these songs in the most energetic hard'n'heavy manner ever performed.

OK, enough of my daydreaming. Pat, I love your photos in the report. Can you send me the bigger versions to my email, pleeease?

Oh, and we will meet again, everybody, next year, yes? If we did it one time we can do it again. How about us fans, and all these musicians we met at the pub, meeting with Kim for a nice long evening. Kim did express the desire to meet them when she heard about our meeting.

OK, that was a really long post. Pierre, can we have a bigger forum, perhaps on a page of its own, with threads sorted by dates. Because this forum starts really to fill up and get difficult to follow through.”

Thanks for the nice compliments. Glad you liked the songs. Even though they are not the recent ones. But the new stuff is all in German lyrics. So you won't understand a word :-( By the way "Pet Dog" used to be Rick's favourite and Kim loved "Top of the world". Still makes me proud :-)))))

Thanks for this lovely welcome here. You guys are cute...

Well, Reno already informed you about our not planned extra night in London. Things like that happen sometimes...especially if you are stupid, blonde and late ;-) Hahahaha...So we had to take an Easy Jet plane yesterday evening...and spend another 119 pounds. Outch! What did they say on the Easy Jet ticket last night: If you're late, we won't wait... British Airways should have informed us about that the day before...hahahahaha...

However, it was more than just a pleasure to meet you all. Thanks to Pierre for arranging this special meeting. I still can't believe that I met Steve & Richard again as well as Jeff & Pete. Haven't seen the guys for a lifetime.

That was actually my very first fan meeting. I was never really interested in meeting other fans...but now that I met some of you I wonder why I didn't do this before....mh...

Yes Rich, we should rock together. But forget about the German tour...I wanna rock the U.K. ;-)))

Anders & Steve: hahahahaha...you should come over to Berlin and we show you how to REALLY party after 11 pm. This is the right time to get started over here. Most bars OPEN at that time...not CLOSE! The British...tztztztzt....but I love them anyways...

Nice to know that most of us met Kim & Co. Me, Eric & Reno managed to attend the after show party at Wembley. That was hilarious. I bet Limahl (my best new friend) felt kind of relieved when we left...I wonder why!!?? We were just continiously talking to him. Did blood run out of his ears??? Don't know. If so: we are so terribly sorry Limahl...hehehehe...Kim was sweet as always. She asked questions about our musicians meeting at All Bar One...seemed like she wished she could have been there, too.

Ok, enough for the moment. Gonna send all my pics to Pierre. It's just a few of them 'cause the batterie of my camera was flat. But the ones I got are really nice.

Hug to everybody & and don't forget to visit me on my website...it's all written in German but you can listen to some songs and look at the photos...also don't forget to leave a message in my guestbook or forum. I love new messages :-))))

Love & later,

They are a real Italian restaurant but turn into a nightclub with music and dancing.
Not too expensive, just get a table, order some drinks and snacks or meals and you can party till late.”

Again it was a great afternoon and Craig and Tom (I couldn't remember your names sorry) it was nice to meet you too. I was also a fan of Five star from 1985-1989. I saw them 2 years ago on Wembley (well the 3 of them) and I think Deniece sounded great. My favourites are "Hard race", "The slightest touch", "Let me be the one" and many more. I think they kinda lost it after the "Rock the world" album and I never really got into any of their later stuff. Anyway it was nice meeting you.

We are just friends, from a long way back. Are you personal friends with anyone from Thursday or did you meet them for the first time throught the website? I got the impresseion you had all met up before. i am only sporadically on emails over Xmas, infact I will over and out in about 10 mins. Do have a good one, and let me know of any up and coming meetings/Kim gossip. Five Star were strange, yes. They wore makeup than Joan Collins on a cosmetics counter at Harrods, and shoulder pads like American football players, but that was why they were so amazing! And very mysterious. I once read they had a nighclub installed in their house, (they all lived together as a family) and would go and 'meet' each other there, pretending they were strangers, as it was the only way to socialise. Hilarious, and of course totally false. The press ultimately caused their demise in 1990 ( a sad day for me) but they were a great band! Did they ever release records in France? I'd love to know.... ”

Now it's Pierre's turn.)
I remember 5 Star from the time there were five of them and they already sounded a bit strange in interviews. Jackson-Lite, both in music and spirit if you catch my drift. Anyway their synchronised choregraphy was pretty amazing. Always made me want to peek in their bathroom to see if they all brushed their teeth in rythm. Do tell us, how weird were they? We love dirt so much on this forum, sometimes we even create our own.

“Hi guys!
It was great to meet you all on Thursday, it was such a shame I was too intimidated to approach you sooner, before one or two of you slid off into drunken oblivion! Had a great time chatting with Patrick and Pierre (sort that cough out, young man!), and apologies for accusing you of being Dutch. Typical of us ignorant Brits with our bad geography. Tom and I (Tom is NOT my boyfriend by the way!!!) really enjoyed the gig at Wembley, but were knackered by the time Midge Ure came on, so we left. Long show isn't it? Kim looked probably the best I have seen her on these tours, with Red lips and big hair. That classic Kim look. Her set was by far the most lively too (closely followed by, er, Bucks Fizz - Cheryl, keep that skirt ON), and it was good to hear a couple of new songs on the list, but where was View from a Bridge? That's my favourite live track! Her voice sounded phenomenal on Never Trust a Stranger. Wicked. Found out that the KimWilde.com meeting in the Arena restaurant had a special guest - Kim herself! Missed out on that chance of a lifetime experience, but I figured sometimes when you meet someone you have idolised, you run the risk of having the illusion shattered. Once the ultimate ambition is achieved, something inside inevitably dies! I met Five Star this year (heard of them?) who I loved as a child (and have to confess have a weakness for now in a major way, sad but true.)And that was extrememly bizarre. I think I preferred thinking that they didn't really exist in real life! So I'm glad i didn't go...
You lot are such a cool bunch, let's keep in touch more, and Patrick, I am going to hold you to a copy of those Can't get enough and World in perfect harmony remixes (do email me and I can give you my address). Great. Well, got to dash, and have a great holiday you lot. How was Steve Byrd's gig? Tom says hi by the way, but he truly lives in the 1980's (wears batwing jumpers and everything) and hasn't heard of the 'internet' yet, so I speak on his behalf. Ciao for now. Craig xxxx”

Wow, wish i can be now in NYC its a great City"..well of course fans started to compliment her blah blah, where all of the sudden i just looked at her and said "Kim i have to tell you, You re the most beautiful pop stars in the world" She looked at me with little surprised face and said "Ohhh Thank U :)" she was wearing almoust no make up just little lip glow...Very much like a STAR you could feel her mezmorizing presence. Then i pulled out blk/white photos of her from CLEO 95 mag, i said this pic is my Fav pic..she looked at the pic and smiled . Well of course fans started to talk about Show, and if there is a new album "She just smiled " didn't answear it..Very proffesional, and diplomatic..oh also i told her about My meeting with George Michael how much i would love them to do a duet and how George said "but she is doing Gardening now" Kim laughed out loud. Anyway, the end we all stand around her and took pics, i didn't loose myself and said "Kim can you pose for 1 pic for me but don't smile, most your pics you smile, She Said Ohh i used to do that at photoshoots:), i said "Yeh that emotional poze of yours from If i can't have you :)," in anyway i manage to take one nice shot you ll see it soon im sure, then i said "Kim I love your hair little waivy" she said "Realy and im doing this str8 hair last couple of years" I said ohh ..then she said "Ok darlin Ok, i will do the curly hair and make up for You tonight ( with jokingly smiling ) and at that time Nick was getting ready and held Kim and they left the Restaurante..Well Kim went to get ready Make up & Hair for late show at Wembley in front of almoust 8,000 people. It was a DINNER to REMEMBER ”

I'm sorry you couldn't make it to the shows, but you know what's strange? At the two shows I've been to (Wembley and Brighton) there were absolutely no media photographers! Looks like the popularity of the H&N tours is really wearing down. So, I tried my best to take pictures as professionaly as I could - no shots of Kim's back or grimasing looks that used to plague my early attempts at capturing Kim's live performances :-)

The Wilde times roll on, and who knows what the next year holds in store for us...”

Then her pride takes over and she knocks us all dead!

Oh and Lisa, it seems that the baked beans is where she gets her energy.”

Just wanted to say that I've lived through the most intense 24 hours in my life - and it seems pretty incredible that so many things on such a personal level happened in so short a span of time. Where was I?
[tries hard to get his bearings]
Oh yeah. Sorry, head's still spinning and the cat asking for attention is not helping. So, for now, I'll just say a big thank you to everyone who came. It was wonderful meeting all of you guys and this turned out to be even more fun than we had expected. Steve, you're a Prince (more on that later.) It was so great meeting all of you: KWTV old-timer Karl, one of the first guys I chatted with when I first came to this site, flanked by James aka J.R. whose deadpan sense of humor was a revelation. Maxim, whose shyness cannot hide his sweetness. Two people for whom niceness must run in the family: Anders (Wildestorm) and his sister Mette - hope I got the spelling right, I know I made you repeat it a couple of times but I was slightly intoxicated at that point. Richard, a fascinating guy to talk to, and I wish we could have talked for hours. Jeff Hammer, whose fingers made You Came. It's not as dirty as it sounds. Jeff, Kim's keyboard player (told you it wasn't dirty) is a genuinely sweet guy, one I suspect can inspire trust in any living being down to stray dogs and wild animals. Kim's bass player, to whom I have to apologize for not remembering the name right now, but I was on my 3rd or 4th glass of Chardonnay. 'Latecomers' Tom and Craig, two great guys from err, two different places in England, whom we hope to see post here someday since they're not only true fans, but real fun to have around. Last but certainly not least, the notorious Winter Sisters, whom Pierre and I half expected to be either an invention of some pranksters or a couple of drag queens - that is, until they showed up and proved beyond a doubt that they're 100% ladies, and what ladies (more on that later). As for the proof I'd rather not elaborate since it might get several people in trouble. We were also treated to their friend/soulbrother/something (it wasn't very clear) Eric, a fun guy who impressed us with his knowledge of french culture (it's much more dirty than it sounds) and even Marcel from kimwilde.com graced us with a short appearance.

All in all, what was supposed to have been a quick drink or two turned into a whole afternoon of fun, laughter, surprises and instant friendship. I know there are some compromising photos out there which will be posted shortly on the site, and I'm just hoping none of them will include me.

The evening was a continuation of the day in terms of fun, love and happiness. Pierre and I got the royal treatment at Steve's gig with The Mods. Steve welcomed us himself and treated us like the guests of honor, introducing us to the band, the DJ and some of the locals - including the charming and witty Catherine, about whom I'm not sure how much I can disclose for now. I'll just say that I can think of many ladies in Hollywood who would happily kill their first-born just to have her genes. Also that she fully understands the art of the whip. Don't ask me how I know that.

As for the band, The Mods and 4 Bills and a Guy or whatever they're called acccording to the moment, I'll expand on them later on but will just offer a few tips for now to anyone interested in auditioning for them:
1 - being called 'Steve' will improve your chances of getting in by 50% since half of them go by that name.
2 - you need an extensive knowledge of the best in 60s/70s soul, blues, rock and pop music - and to play just as good as the originals.
3 - you must be able to effortlessly get a whole club to their feet and have them dancing, singing and having the time of their life for a whole set non-stop - and leave them begging for more.

They did all that, and much more.
This was simply one of the best evenings of my life. Steve was the most thougtful host down to the end, going as far as arranging means of transportation back for us (BTW we got home fine, Steve!)
For Pierre and I, this was better than Christmas. We were honored, moved, and incredibly happy to be a part of this, in a setting that was both intimate and festive in the best way. To quote someone you know: "there was music and there was rythm and then there was something I can't explain." It was like stepping inside some great english movie like The Full Monty (except that no-one got naked, though the singer came close) or Brassed Off (except that you could dance to the music, and couldn't help yourself anyway.)

I understand Kim's concert was great and meeting her must have been a wonderful experience for all of you, but on a personal level, I wouldn't trade the evening we had for 10 Wembleys.
So once again, thank you Steve, and thank you to everyone who made yesterday a day to remember.
I'll stop here for now, but know that the magic lingers on.”

Kim came to Helsinki, Finland to promote her compilation album which was released around the time and she was booked to perform on tv and on this 'Fashion Night' show. TikTak (a Finnish girl band, ages between 16-17 at the time (believe it or not! and they play all instruments themselves!) was also performing on the same show. The promoters of the show remembered that TikTak always play 'Kids in America' as a last song on their gigs so somebody got the brilliant idea "why not ask if Kim would agree to perform 'Kids' with the girls"! And because she's such a lovely lady she said 'YES' and the rest is for you all to see. Please notice that Kim & TikTak rehearsed the song only ONCE just a few hours before it was broadcasted live on tv! Quite suberb job, I'd say, eh!! And pls note that the singer, Petra, was only 16 years old at the time, and a bit shy of Kim :) But most importantly, Kim herself was VERY impressed of the whole (young) band & how great version TikTak had made of Kids! And if Kim's happy, I'm happy :-)”

Of course when it comes to 'looks' only time can bring a proper perspective. For instance only recently did I realize how the "lion" or "semi-punk" hairstyle that was Kim's trademark in early days looked absolutely ridiculous on every woman but her. At the time (early 80s) it looked like the height of 'chic', mostly because it instantly brought to mind her perfect face. Maybe that's the problem with fashion: it tries to fool people into attaining perfection from a model that is unattainable for many.
To answer your question, I suppose one has to keep in mind that a 'model' is not necesseraly a 'role model'. As Eurythmics would say: 'be yourself tonight'. In other words: we're not perfect - if we're gonna make mistakes let them be ours, not other people's.”

Shock, horror, there's even one in her hair!
Will SuperKim defeat the menace or will she have to go through the whole song looking like an ad for Aids awareness, Breast Cancer awareness, Brain Slowdown awareness and just about any other disease that needs a ribbon to set people's conscience at rest? The suspense will kill you!
That is, if the video doesn't make you blind first.”

There's no good interaction and singing a duet compels artists to do so. There are enough looks from Kim or when you look at her body language (turned towards the other person) you see she's a very experienced person in that to make things look like a 'duet'.
The other singer is jumping around, makes almost no efforts to 'click' to make it more interesting for the audience. Yes, a shame for Kim especcially, I really wonder if the bands- singer (sorry I don't know her name) knows what a great artist and performer Kim is and was back then. And the adorable Kim, gives her a hug at the end of the performance, what a class she has!!!”

LOOK ALIVE (S.Byrd/P.Mathis)

A pile of books lays on the ugly bedroom floor
Hand-written notes around, two candles on the wall
He's made his life choices, has he ever asked for more?
Now love is all he misses to make him strong and tall

Rings of the telephone
He gets carried all away
Knocks on his wooden door
They would take his breath away

Look alive
Look alive
The guy, does he look alive?

It's been a while my baby since you took another way
You left him all alone, 'was the price he had to pay

Rings of the telephone
He gets carried all away
Knocks on his wooden door
They would take his breath away

Look alive
Look alive
The guy, does he look alive?

He hardly looks alive

Maybe 1 day Kim will wake up thinking, "Wow, I want to make new music now!" and that day could be the beginning of a long long long awaited come back for... all of us! About DuranDuran, they never really stopped you know and their album with the 5 original members looks like another marketing analisys, from Eurythmics to Culture Club. None of those come backs "did" it because when you re in a band, once it s over, you can never make the inspiration come back only for commercial reasons. In my opinion, the re-Union of the Snake of the Duran Boys is the most boring album they ever did, no surprises there. Just 5 '80s guys trying to put the same magiK in their music in 2004 while the golden decade is now old as a grand mother... And believe me I ve been disapointed on the day I listened to it the first time, I was so excited!
Oh by the way, talking about '80s ghosts, Madonna is currently in da studio with Marthin L Gore! “That s right James, Kim has also given her lovers new music lately, like gifts to our loyalty maybe? For me, Kim in music holds a very special and unique place you know. She s been busy working in a creative process during her first Wilde years before searching for new inspirations and finding beautiful ones soit dit en passant. There s a "before" and "after" Tommy in her case and even if lovely and a huge present to us, "Loved" will never mean half of the half of "View from a bridge" to me, 'cause it was the beginning, it was her birth while "Loved" is sort of her testament to her singing days, sort of a conclusion if you prefer. I love her voice on that song because she could never had sung it 10 years before, with such a warm emotion. "Loved" is that pearl she gave to us a few years ago because only an adult Kim could sing it, the lyrics are full of experience. I like the beginning of the song but then the cheap dancey arrangments on it immediately bring me back to the real Wilde child sounds. James, understand me, I think "Loved" is cool, because it s Kim Wilde. It s good being unfair sometimes, isn t it? Like, who apart some crazy guys would still say "Evita" was a good movie in 2004? ;-)))”

“That s very interesting Steve, as I ve always wondered what kind of feelings Kim herself does have regarding her first career as a pop singer. That s why I really appreciated an interview she made last year during the australian H&N last year, because I finally got the occasion to perceive her impressions with all those years inbetween. It was a nice suprise to realise that she s funny about it and where she sometimes was described like an impossible and humourless princess in the UK press during her singing days (Smash Hits had fun giving her stupid nicknames, "Her Royal Highness"...). After the war was over and Kim came back to music as a part time singer, she could the words out, speaking about the uncomfortable outfits and the songs, from "Select" to "T&D". I don t listen to her music these days either, it s in my secrets box and next time I ll play "Back Street Joe" will be when I meet DGé down the street! My first interest for Kim was for her Wilde select sounds of course, and then times have changed, don t say nothing s changed... And then we learned how to say good bye, and she could finally say good bye too! But 1 thing for sure is that I ll always be curious about her personality and I wonder if she sometimes sits on her beautiful sofa in her woody living room with her children and chubby, telling them "Now that s what mummy used to sing 20 years ago..." putting the teasing or daring side of her vinyl days on the stereo. I ve been listening to "Close" the other day myself, I used to be so addicted to "You ll be the 1" and "European Soul" back then, but the sound of the old Rick synths told me to put it in the souvenirs box too. I love you Kim Wilde forever, XXX.

You shine!

“Pierre,
First of all the concert was EPIC!
It was the reconstucted movie of Napoleon from 1927 which has taken 25 years to reassemble.
The film was quite amazing dealing with Napoleons childhood and The Revolution also.
You did not want to go against the crowd in those days did you?
All the mob had to do was shout off with his head and you were either strung up on a rope there and then or if lucky joined the endless queue for the guillotine.
Did that all really happen?
The music was sublime.
The London Philharmonic Orchestra, playing a score, written and conducted by Carl Davis was incredible.
We had a box above the Orchestra and even at 5.30 hours long it was a marvel.
Of course we had three intermissions, but we left home at 12.00 noon and got home again at midnight.
The concert ended with the screen becoming three projectors, spanning the huge Royal Festival Hall with the RPO reaching a frenzy!”

I'm sure if "Sorry seems to be..." had been included on Another step it would have survived. It should have been recorded on the re-release of the album that would have been great. Kim's voice are perfect for this song.
Can't be really sad though as T&D is a great album too bringing back memories from a time in my life where I got the first kiss, smoked the first cigarette and drank my first beer.
"Another step" is from another time where I didn't just kiss, smoked 1000s of cigarettes and drank to many beers but it has the best love songs. And the best B-side ever "Loving you". Those memories....”
