It's lovely to see her looking so gorgeous and relaxed. You can tell when she's particulary at ease on a set, her funny side always comes out. And Meg Ryan would probably kill for her hair. Come to think of it, this is probably where she got the idea for her lips.”

“Rock&Roll! See my previous comments re: Soul. I remember her on stage at the Pavillon Baltard doing this very song, in her black Vive Le Rock t-shirt. Good rockabilly dancing too. The tight jeans didn't hurt either :-)”

“You better run, Martha! I've always said Kim was one of the few white artists who could write convincing soul but here she proves she's just as adept at doing it live. With this and her terrific live renditions of "Tears Of A Clown", "When The Boy's Happy" or "Putty In Your Hands" am I the only one who wishes she'd do an entire set of 60's/70's covers? How I would have loved to be there...”

Re: Norah Jones. Why waste such a beautiful tune on someone who's happy doing elevator music? Obviously millions disagree with me but as far as I'm concerned Jones is neither pop nor jazz, it's just bland. Now if Kim would release it as a single for the next, sure-to-happen-someday umpteen compilation, it might wake people up to her versatility and her (sometimes unsung) potential. Not to mention the Byrdman's ;-)”

Me and Pierre in 100 guises!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK Pat,loved the story of you and the album.Paris is where I met my destiny after London and is my favourite city still, even though I had not met a sociable Frenchman in 25 years that I worked there. Many women, but until Pierre and you with me,not not one Frenchman who was open to ideas and conversation with an English idiot like myself.I guess I just wasn't cool enough then.
Obviously I was moving in the wrong circles then, but this is here and now.
Pat thank you so much for the physical purchase of my BEAUTIFUL gift.
All of you others (ie Pierre of a 100 guises)thank you also.
KARINA I am not a moron I was upset because racist people came into my local pub which is my second home.
I will not repeat what they said as they do not deserve to be mentioned but they were saying terrible things about the lovely people who have joined our community from the new European states.
These people are hard working family people and they did not leave their homelands out of choice.
Some idiots in this area want to make them to be scapegoats for our own long standing problems.
I will always side with the underdog (a terrible term)
Now these idiots are barred from my pub and if they want to take a side against me I gave them my address and they are welcome 24/7.
I suppose I can see what my wife's problem is with me but where does this kind of thing end?
Sorry for the angst,
Back to KWTV where love is the key.

“Steve, making you this gift was a pleasure for all involved. As it happens, the task of buying it fell on me since I live in Paris, City of Lights and Books. Coming out of the bookstore, I passed by the Louvre and had a flashback: 20 years earlier, alone with my walkman on the night I bought "Teases & Dares". This was the location I had selected for the long-awaited ritual of discovering the New Kim Wilde Album - a beautiful, deserted and historically charged place where time seemed suspended. And I remembered how it took me a whole hour to get from A-side to B-side because I kept playing over and over that incredible track "Rage To Love". And how joyful I was for it, and going "do-be-do-be-do-do-bap-bap". In the weeks that followed, that song became like a lifebelt for me, and at times my main source of happiness - just like a dear friend. That you had a hand in it (and what a hand!) well... it was a pleasure. A real pleasure.”

“Guys and Girls,
I was just sitting on my couch feeling sorry for myself trying to read The Art Of Happiness and my eyes were looking but my brain wasn't recieving.A postal truck stopped outside and a guy came to my door with a parcel.
It arrived in perfect condition and when I opened it I was amazed and gladdened by the beautiful limited edition of Le Petit Prince inside.I have not read this book but now I may be able to join in the many references to it that are posted on this site.
It is one of the most thoughtful and touching gifts I have ever been lucky enough to have been given and I thank Master P and all of you from KWTV.I shall treasure this book and let my son read it after me.He devours books so this one I shall make sure he washes his hands and treats it with respect.I was taught by my old Victorian teacher as a small boy how to read a book so that it would last forever,no creases,no bumps or bruises as we had to make them last for 20 or 30 years as no one was ever going to replace them.
If we would ever mark or deface a book he would do the same to us and funnily enough we almost never did.
However, thanks again for an amazing gift.
I will cherish this, and the kindness of my cyber friends.
Big love to all of you,
Steve.(with a little tear in my eyes!!!)”

I ll come back of course, that Wilde attraction and affection of mine is also there now and forever!
I also changed my email address, for the ones who d like to stay in touch these next weeks:

freelanz04@hotmail.com

Kim reinvented herself as a gardener, I m reinventing myself into someone carried by his emotions forever, but I need to evolve and AliSue was keeping me on the ground of my souvenirs. Time to become an adult, always with a hanky panky spirit of course!

Bye bye AliSue, Now and Forever in my heart...

We suddenly got filled with respect, admiration and also sadness because, without having to say a word, we all understood what must be the feeling of giving birth to such a gem without being able to share it with anyone. My wish is that broadcasting it on Kim Wilde TV will eventually do it justice.”

“Everyone's Sweetheart was written on the four track cassette portastudio, just guitar and vocals.
Rick said he liked it so we took it to Battery Studios, my then publisher Zomba gave us a free week with an engineer.
We got a string bass sample and programmed that in with some rythm. Then I did the guitar. Kim put her vocals on and she played the stringsand other little bits and bobs. Kim was a little melancholy at the time and a good ballad can have the same effect as a good cry I think.
We did about six songs that week. It was in the mid-eighties at a guess.

Very Go For It/Second Time. Then again judging by his posts, we all have every reason to believe there's still the man in Byrdman.

Anyway,
(takes a deep breath)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR STEEEEEEVE
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU

OK so maybe you expected another 'another step' pastiche but did I mention I was drunk?

In my defense, I had all kinds of nice Steve birthday thoughts swirling around my head tonight between my 2nd and 3rd rum punch but I must have misplaced them between the 3rd and the 4th. Something about your beautiful soul and the child within you and how those who know how to preserve the latter end up with the former.
Granted, it's definitely not in the same league as a beautiful love blonde entreating you to be yourself tonight, I mean, do your best tonight. [*shudders as Pat imagines Lisa in a previous life as Catherine of Russia*]

What I meant to say was - [*searches around for his dropped thought*] Oh, there it is:
I wish you the best because you deserve it.

I'll be thinking of you tonight, grateful for the joy you've been giving us. Watch out, it has a way of coming back to you when you least expect it.

I would do the same with Kim.How about these chords?Or this rythmn?
Eventually we would find a way and then it would run like quicksilver.
We wrote many songs that the world will never hear. They are momentos for me but they are tied up in legal stuff so cannot be released.
You may have noticed that I do not really care for corporate stuff.
Pierre has kept this site going ,non corporate assistance and he deserves a massive round of cyber applause.
I am going to listen to his version of You Have To Learn To Live Alone as it is my life story.

The band were so cool,James Stevenson on guitar,

They were fantastic and drew me towards thinking wow!I would love to play in a band like that(not to mention the rather cool and lovely vocalist(her name evades me)but they all seemed soooooo coooooooool!
Anyway as you know I spoilt all of that but at least we were very well trained in music and life and I believe that Kim was given the best thing available to her.

You are about to enter a wonderful new aera of your life where women start considering lying about their age while men don't give a shit since you're gorgeous anyway, and pressuring their boyfriend with the ticking of the biological clock. You are one year wiser, which puts you light years ahead of many men who are not the brightest of their species to start with. You can move on from 'Charmed' to 'Six Feet Under' and finally listen to The Dandy Warhols without fainting. You bother less and less about people trying to dump their shit on you, but are wise enough not to throw your co-worker out of the window as you know it's a drag trying to get proper mascara in prison. “Steve,
I loved reading about the genesis of Rage To Love, which always was one of my favorite Kim Wilde tracks. I remember when I first listened to 'Teases & Dares' it took me a whole hour to get to the b-side because I kept listening to that fantastic song over and over (apparently, so did the critics at the time).
However I'm not sure I could have stood listening to it, not to mention playing it, from 7 am to 11 pm! And we, the unsuspecting public, think videos are such great fun...
And don't worry about being called a nerd. I think it's fascinating to have that kind of info on the songs. As a non-musician (a big regret in life) it gives me some insight on how music is really made, and let's not forget all the musicians on this site who must feast on this stuff (Karl, u there? Kaaarl...?)
Not meaning to be a pain, but... didn't you sort of skip a couple of episodes in your bio? I know you were in the Catch'83 tour (for some reason one image I retain from the Paris concert is you doing backing vocals to 'Dancing In The Dark'!) Then again, we all understand if you're not particulary interested in revisiting a particular time. In any case, do keep on treating us to your great stories!

PS: Haven't seen neither Zardoz nor Xanadu but from what I read about those 2 movies, Xanadu is so ridiculous it beats even Sean Connery in a fur bikini.

It s wrong, there s another sleeve that drove me crazy, it was Nina Hagen, you know, that picture with short black hair à la Jeanne Mas, white, nearly pink skin, holding with arrogance a cigarette between her lips. It must be around '79 or something... A detail I know, but I wanted you to know that I had a life before Wilde & Ciccone ;-) The question is, will I have a life after them?
Ha! Ha! This bird has flown... But not your pigeon!
I think I ll go Mas next week in Paris, someone has a bed for me after the show?”

And if I may disagree with you, my fellow loon, I don't think we need either an edit option or a timetable or whatever. An edit option would sort of take away the spontaneity of it all - Alisue's posts would probably never read the same twice. Who cares about a few typos really? Adds to the fun.
Ditto a "date & time" thing, I think that would break the natural flow of the posts and, given that some of us are in different timezones, oonly give a confusing (and frankly irrelevant) information. I don't know about you but I like to re-read our exchanges without being reminded all the time that it took 3 days to achieve a conversation.

"American Life" was on politics, that s why US radio stations banned the record and jumped on her name change to argue that she s a poor crazy girl, lost on spirituality. “Marcel,
This guy was a typical Cardiff hooligan. His team were drawing 2-2 and he was screaming his head off and swearing and all my local women friends were moving away and were scared.I asked him very quietly and politety to calm down.He turned on me like a bull.Red hair, over two metres tall and maybe 18 stones in weight. He started to tell me that he was a Welshman, like that meant something and that he would do whatever the fuck he wanted to as he was a Welshman.I said ok go back to Cardiff and behave like that but not here in Surrey in my local pub, scaring my friends.
He went beserk. My singer is a bodyguard for Daley Thompson and Lord Sebastian Coe and he has taught me how to defend myself in the ways of Wing Chung,a Chinese street fighting discipline who's sole aim is to win at all costs.I backed away into a corner so that I could only be attacked from the front,he thought he had me and charged.A simple way is to duck and let them break their fist on the wall but he was going to headbutt me.I simply jabbed him in the eyes, combined with his forward motion and all of his weight this was a doddle, then a swift tap to the weakest part of the cranium with the tiniest point of contact the tip of the second knuckle, can kill but I only tapped him and he went down in a heap.Job done in 1 second.I saw a tiny girl do this to a mugger in Paris and have practiced it ever since

Is that I had just passed my driving test and bought a mini.It was the first video I drove to and they said ok open the door for Kim then drive away. The Rolls Royce was the director Mike Mansfields and his boyfriend said can you drive.Of course I said proudly,ok then off you go.I was so nervous and couldn't find the handbrake or clutch. It was an automatic which I then drove for the last 20 years or so.Then I had no idea what to do.I was holding up filming and Kim was like Nums, just drive the fucking thing. They said just put your foot on the brake, open the handbrake and drive off.The handbrake is hidden under the steering wheel on that model and I was like where's the fucking handbrake. In the end they showed me but I felt like such a nerd.Hey doesn't everybody know how to drive a Rolls Royce. Not this poor Sheffield boy then. Now pas de problem.”

I don't want to dance on anyones' toes here, but Boudicca is a name I usually hear from Scots, Welsh and at times from Irish fellows. She was, no doubt, a great general during her time - very close to driving out the Roman army; and all she basically did was using her charisma while gathering followers and her strategical gifts when it came to planning. It is said that she let out a rabbit whenever she was unsure of what direction to take - whatever direction the rabbit ran to was the one her army would take.”

I always steer clear of stereotypes but this experience was pretty bad and has struck fear in my heart everytime I hear the words 'Wales', 'Welsh' or 'Caerdydd'. She does it all the time but people don t get it. When the book "SeX" was out, she was judged for her over exposure and accused for inventing "soft porn". It must have been hard for her because it was the first time she did something all on her own good. No one to blame apart herself... For her defence she could have pointed out that the book was full self critisism and self mockery. 1 of her ex lovers sold his sexual life with her saying she was more of a cat than a tiger, I like the idea, even if I don t care about what happens in someone else s bedroom ;-) ”

Pat, now that you know me, I hope you enjoy my cynism... There was actually just 1 thing I don t aprove during the '04 re-Invented Mo, sort of a propaganda of spirituality for children... People seem to not follow Madonna when she takes herself seriously, and it s the case with her current kabbalah crisis. Changing her name into Esther is an ultimate re-invention or a true devotion? Time will show... I tend to think she ll find something new soon and concentrate herself into writing. She once answered in an interview that if she hadn t become Mo, she would certainly work as a journalist for a fashion magazine (believe me Pat, my own choices don t have anything to do with her, not anymore...). What we can say is that Madonna is a postmodern PoP icon, transforming the american trash into glam and the glam into american trash. I love her for her capacity of taking serious things with frivolity and giving frivolity a serious treatment, that must be her greatest quality and the machine that fabrics her multiple faces... Phewww, I coulnd t help it, I had to write it. As a conclusion to the Jesus Christ subject, here s what Madonna answered in a recent interview about "Like A Prayer"... "This should have been a love song. But Jesus, the subject Jesus, came in. I realised that my problem with men is the same I have with Jesus. If you give Jesus/men more power than what they deserve, you get f*cked!" Enjoy your day everybody! ”

I can respect people who are prepared to lay down their lives for their beliefs. Its just not my style.
I would lay down their lives for my beliefs.
If I could go back in this imaginary past and lets say that Jesus was there as the scriptures would have us believe,I would do something like this.
I would get him out of there first of all to safe location.
Then I would gather together all of the best intelligence and fighters available and start taking out the occupiers bit by bit.Much as our early Queen Boudicca did with the same Roman army. Then Romans were complacent and did not even accept that they could be threatened, never mind beaten.Boudicca took all of eastern England, slaughtering entire garrisons and then marched south to London. She and her warriors wiped out the entire occupying force and burned their garrisons to the ground.
She was only beaten when a wise and alarmed Roman General gathered the entire Roman army leaving all of Europe vulnerable and fought a long and bloody battle to beat the English warlords.
If he had not done so the world would be a very different place than it is today.
That is the way that I would imagine to have dealt with the Romans in regard to Jesus.
There is love in pain, suffering and humility, but there is also love in strength.
Love Steve.

The fact that such a concept can gather a multitude of people (to say the least) isn't that unheard of - including the fact that they could die for the cause - we still see it. For instance, Islam (spin-off of Christianity, of course), Buddhism (Siddharta Gautama being some sort of an equalent to Christ, even though he never wished that), and let us not forget Aton, the god who's basically the patriarch in the first recorded monoteistic religion. And my point is.. Hmm.. Forgot that part.. :)”

I didn t know that part of you (and still don t by the way) but 1 thing I d love to study apart journalism and the power of words are religions. My father started to become religious when my mother left him and in other words, he became boring and heavy... 1 day, intrigued by his strange son, he told me and my mum about his religious group reunion under 1 theme: the homosexuality. He proposed us to come along. I couldn t help myself laughing and my mother told him "Claude, if you want to know if your son is homosexual, ask him."”

Why does this remind me of a recent evening of quenelles and conversation ? :-) My take on religion, which I have bombarded you with in the last few posts, evolved in part from the common ground I have observed in my christian, jewish and muslim acquaintances - all of whom practice their religion with enough intelligence to avoid fanaticism. All agreed that the main idea was not to live by the book, since it's pretty unrealistic, but to live in accordance with your own conscience - which was the ultimate reference.”

He was raised in a muslim tradition, which has a few good points when you understand and apply them like it was written. I saw him slowly slippering into a dangerous perception of the Good and the Bad and started to believe he was becoming crazy when he came to my house with a big box full of his Madonna music, pictures, books, posters and souvenirs, all destroyed, strapped, with "devil" written in large letters all around... I told him "be careful, even you live to get the best place in Heaven, you re still living your life on Earth, don t forget it." Religion did us apart because he can t tolerate someone who doesn t think like him. The other day, before coming to Paris, I met him in the streets and he thanked me for "letting some of his devils out", and I thanked him for making me understand that religion is the Force of Despair most of the time...”

“Faith is sort of a sacred and personal view on things that we all are free to develop or not. Just like words, Faith means something sacred to me, and if some things I prefer not writing, some things about my own Faith, I know they have to remain unsaid. That s the way it is. It s like that since I m a child. My parents never gave me any religious education and gave me (the clever) opportunity to choose myself. And I chose. Just like you Pat, I was very mature for some things when I was a child and remained immature for others when I grew up. I think it s the condition of it by the way... When I was 8, I had sort of a mystical crisis and started to go to the church, going to the catholiK education school. My parents were curious and amused and asked me "Why?" and I answered "Because." I felt God, I already knew I had a special sexual preference (since I was 4, I knew what attracted me in men) and I saw God as sort of Tolerance Temple for the differences between people. It was sort of a refuge. I was a child, naive and not seeing what kind of wars religions can bring. But still, I think people don t understand what religion is about. Saint Exupéry made exactly the same when he wrote the Little Prince, he gave images to explain the mystery of our lives. The Little Prince had to learn to live alone, or at least, that we all have to stand alone. I hate religion when it s misunderstood, which is quite always. At 32, I still see Jesus and His Father as Tolerant, I could even imagine dancing with them in a gay pride ;-) Sorry God, you know me by now... Because God says there s a place for everyone on this Planet. It s not him saying condoms fight against life, it s just an old man called The Pope who probably never knew what the sexual pleasure is about and giving Love to someone also goes through sex. I think God is a glabal Love provider, sex included. That s my opinion.”

“One last thing about faith (and then we can go back to discussing Madonna, promise :-)) Faith and doubt are not mutually exclusive either, hence the distingo "Blind faith". Faith is not knowledge, but trust: trusting that something is true in the absence of physical evidence. But that absence allows room for doubt, and faith is something that is supposed to be tested - first and foremost by your own conscience since religion implies being in touch with your soul. It is also what makes it all worthwile. Some will point out that if God was that almighty he wouldn't have left room for man to doubt Him. I'd say it's the ultimate proof of (His) love to leave us that spiritual freedom. ("If you love somebody, set them free") And another sign that Christianity is not about power, but about love.”
Pat from Paname
wrote

“If I may go back a few posts to the subject of Faith: Alisue, you wrote "IF Jesus existed." We know historically that a physical man named Jesus existed and was crucified. Whether he was or not the son of God is of course debatable. To my eyes, that is irrelevant (or maybe I'm just scared to consider the possibility.) What I do find extraordinary is the fact that Christianity exists, independantly of Christ's existence. The foundation of this is not about who's the Boss, but about treating your fellow men with love, respect and compassion, be it king or beggar - an incredibly daring idea for a time where social hierarchy ruled over morals. So daring that crosses and nails entered the debate, only to fuel it further. Try and imagine a world where the concept of love as a guiding rule was so threatening it was punished with the most horrendous death. Try and imagine people of all kind
so moved by that very concept it made them strong enough to face death rather than renounce it. Whether there is a God in Heaven or an afterlife is almost irrelevant. What matters is that this one idea that changed the world 2000 years ago still lives today. Granted, it's been betrayed and twisted and lost, sometimes by those appointed to enhance it. But you odn't have to be religious to feel and share what is at the core of it. Religion is basically a dialogue with your conscience - some call it the holy part of us, others don't. But whether you believe in God or in man, the ethics are pretty much the same. And no matter what some say, they're not mutually exclusive.”

When I was a teenager, my mum got into a bad and sad depression and when she cried on the sofa, her favourite cat (an old fat and beautiful tiger sort of capricious queen) slapped her in the face because she hated seeing my mum sad and low. So you know my dear mouse, those cats sometimes choose their human being because they feel what a wonderful life it could be with him or her. It felt exactly that way the other night at Pat s, it felt good as a cocoon, a quiet place out of the busy crazy world we re living in. You know that Beauty hides behind simple things, don t you? So imagine, music and japanese pale lights, drinking beers and enjoying each other s personality. It was all about that. Very simple, very natural. No place for drugs or hystery there, there was only room for sincerity without a fanfare. That s why it must have been weird for Pat thinking AliSue is part of me. It was like bubble stopping time for a while. Because we are kids and conscious of it, so we don t cry about it. It was sweet and delicate, respectfull and hanging on, opened to each other. “Hey Mr Steve Byrd! My opinion about Jesus Christ goes something like this: if he (or He) really lived on Planet Earth (we ll never know, despite everything we know ;-), then he must have been 1 of those charismatiK personas (makes me think about someone from the contemporean PoP culture but I wouldn t like to bother Pat, not today, not yet ;-), you know, someone with mirrors in His eyes, giving everbody the possibility to see themselves in His eyes, full of compassion and comprehension. Jesus Christ was a superstar, that s right. Even if the religion that relies on him keeps on telling he was a victim of the cruel part of human nature, look at Marilyn Monroe or Madonna. When you re under the spotlights, you are loved and hated, you become reason for people to love and cry, live and die. And Jesus Christ was carried his spotlights on his back, people were throwing stones at him, he was judged because he was not allowed to enjoy sex, people wanted to see him dying on his cross, which was nothing else than his stage. All the world is a stage. Jesus Christ is an example for us here in Occident. I was in Notre Dame De Paris the other day because I never visit a town without visiting its churches and light a candle for my beloved grand mother. When I m in a church, I can feel Jesus Christ in a very precise way, which is personal. I m not religious but I can feel Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is personified for example when a princess Dies in a car crash and the whole world cries for her. They think they cry for her but they cry for themselves. Once you have understood that, then you can feel Jesus Christ. If not a drowned world, let s hope it s a cabaret world! Pat, I m out of "Rain", believe me. I m Alexandre, read me!”

“Karina,
First of all you have to remember that I gave that answer in 1982.
I was young and idealistic then.
However, the same heart and soul that gave the reply still exist's within me.Only my intellect has been tarnished.
I was raised in the ideals of the Church of England.I never really believed in it,but I enjoyed the symbolism of the stories. The good Samaritan, the rebirth of Christ, the submission to the will of opposing forces rather than retaliation.
I visited Jerusalem in the 80's whilst touring with The Kids From Fame (a huge tv show) and I was moved by the energies present.I wailed at the wailing wall, visited Bethlehem and placed my hand in the hole where his cross was mounted, but I felt nothing, other than the people pissing me off to sell me "holy water".
I was also inculcated in the Crusades (the" Holy" wars of the early centuries) when the knights used to go to the middle east and fight the unbelievers.
I never understood how a war could be comitted in the name of a god,or belief, and still don't to this day.
As a child when we learned the stories of Jesus I could never understand how he could know that his end was coming and allow it to happen,or how his "friends" could have betrayed his trust in such a way.
I wanted to go back to The Garden of Gethsemene and say, look mate, they are coming for you, lets go now and hide and we will take them on another day.
According to The Bible,Jesus instead decided to let the Romans have their way and died for our sins.
I find that hard to believe,so I would like to go back and meet him and see the reality.
I find my own thoughts turn more to Buddha and Krishna now.I don't think I am religious,in fact I gave my soul to Rock and Roll but I find the older I get the more I am drawn to the ways of peace and love and tolerance and understanding.Really corny I know but they are my thoughts on this.
I SAW PIERRE on Saturday in Paris, thanks for the Cognac and smiles mate, you are a star.

There we were, talking about us and on the music selection he made for me (I m a proud owner of Patti Smith s Horses now!), we chatted a bit about Kim of course, who remains our beloved blonde link, but we went beyond. And then, when the computer was on, we were like "should we go KWTV for a message or 2?" It was a thrill but it also was a strange feeling, you know, why running back into the screen when we smashed it with the best surprise waiting behind? I had fun, pleasure, emotions, feelings, beers and quenelles. Believe me, playing Pat a Mariah Carrey album would be a too bad treatment. He loves music and girls in music like an eternal teenager and that s lovely. He s a grown up man who managed to keep the passion alive. We were like 2 kids, enjoying music and ourselves together. Oh God, may You understand that I m not selling Pat ;-) Sure You understand... I was curious of his impressions about AliSue and asked him "Is AliSue a girl or a boy for you?", his answer couldn t be more right "AliSue would be a girl or a hysterical drag queen!" and then I told him "Imagine if I was that hysterical drag queen, you would already have pushed me out the window!" “Just another chaos at the airport... I had to jump on an EasyJet to fly back to Switzerland and like often, I tend to first take the fun before the organiZation, so there I was with my friend, sharing a very last beer in the hotel hall when the receptionist came to us "It s good taking life on its good side but I think you should hurry now if you want to catch your flight!" And then started the absurd curse, me losing my Madonna posters and the only ones that seemed to fly were my Madonna pins! Arrived at the airport I went straight to the EasyJet desk and begged the girl to call the plane to tell the back plane driver that we were arrived, her answer was a "no, it s too late, the flight is booked half an hour before the departure!" and I started to scream at her as she seemed to treat me like a stupid immature idiot, like "I repeat to you that the flight is booked..." A real chaos! The girl went left her desk and told her colleagues I treated her too bad and it was sort of a kindergarten situation with me telling her "OK, we ve been offenced? Let s make Peace and find a solution!", and her going "Only if you change your behaviour, I m not obliged to serve an fresh customer!", "Well, what the f*ck you want from me? Me on my knees, praying for your divine pardon? Forget about that now, you re a cute girl, what gets on my nerves is having lost my plane, can you get it now?"... Anyway, it was just another night in Paris Orly, in the somptuous palace Ibis Hotel ;-) Paris Sept '04 has been a fantastiK enchanting trip for a few reasons. You all know the first of all that was the '04 re-Invented Madonna which, of course James, I enjoyed like crazy! It was amazing, I loved "Deeper & Deeper" all jazzy cabaret, the AC/DC feel on "Burning Up"... What I disliked the most is what they all seem to see as the highlight of the show, which is "American Life", I found it boring and a bit passé. She made a special message to France, "last year or something, when my last album "American Life" was out, the american radio stations censored me, they prefered not playing my songs while you, in France, played it often on the radio!" (she had no choice, she had to say so for NRJ) All I can say is that a Madonna concert is like a dream. Anyone who has experienced her that way will understand me, a dream... Lisa, have a sit my girl. I met Pierre, yes I did and you know what? He s like you and me, made of flesh and bones, a gorgeous smile and a warm opened heart I guess. It was something big for me as I already told you I fell madly in love with him last year, while my real life must have felt a bit empty. We shared 1 beer or 5 (well, I was drinking beer ;-) It was sort of a natural thing, I knew I would appreciate him through his creation here and his golden soul. It was a short time at the bar but I can tell you he s a nice guy, no matter if gay or not. You know Lisa, it s not in my habits asking someone I meet "Do you prefer sex with boys or girls?" and I was meeting a person, so didn t even try to understand if he s gay or straight. However, it's evident that the creator was indeed quite bright and insightful. One term comes to mind (and this is me trying to translate it): "The worst part is not the hang-over, it's the unfolding of yesterday's events that's the real challenge." Kind of how I feel sometimes when I go through the archive here *grins*

“I knew there was danger but couldn't resist - so I tried it with my crappy 56K conection to the risk of having a fatal fit whenever it froze. I was pleasantly surprised to find out it plays almost as good as with a DLS connection if you let it download first at its own rythm, then play it back from the beginning. Just so you'd know, fellow 56 surfers. Okay, where was I? Hmmm. Forget about the 'edit post' option Calanor keeps pushing for. What we need is a way to rate this an 11 or a 12. Good God. And she didn't win?? What did Boy George do as Bowie, get Mick Jagger in bed? Anyway. I'm trying to be really cool and level-headed about this, you'll notice, because I'm really past the age where you swoon at your favorite singer and God knows I've embarrassed myself enough in the past. So I think I'll just go out, you know, and breathe some fresh air and, like, look at the moon. Wait a minute - it's 2 p.m. Never mind. Must have been the stars in my eyes.”

Damn. *scribbles* List Of Things To Do: 1 - Get DLS. 2 - fix digital camera. 3 - put up avatar. 4 - meet Alisue. Whew, that's quite a lot for one day. Should I skip 3 or 4?”

I'm not really a fan, but I never thought that a big band like them would play in a small town like this. And if that wasn't enough, there will be a mini Here&Now gig with Curiousity Killed The Cat, Nick Heyward, Toya Whats-her-name, and Altered Images. I might go to see that, if only for Claire Grogan. She was such a fun on H&N 2002 tour. I'm still waiting for Kim to come around and do a gig at the Cliffs Pavilion, heh heh. Steve, if you're playing with a band, maybe you could do a gig over here as well?”

“jerzy: As for Rage to Love, you expressed a few things I did not mention in my rating. “Pierre: True, but I (and you too, quite obviously) have seen VFAB live performances that were just super - in the sense that they stayed true to the original concept, if you will. I get your point though - the rockier version of VFAB has its merits for sure; I just think it's a bit of a shame that it's the only version we've heard the last uhh God knows how many years..”
Pierre (webmaster)
wrote

“I can understand your feeling, Calanor. Yet you probably have to consider that they're two separate tracks. You've got VFAB on one side, and VFAB Live on the other (-and actually all the different live performances of the song). A friend of mine he didn't even want to listen to Bowie's "Life On Mars" performed live by Annie Lennox because it sounded so different from the original.. right but it was another jewel, and he may never realise it!”

“Well, I don't have to watch the vid either to give it my rating. But in my case, I'm a little more reserved. VFAB is one of those "holy cows" (hopefully I'm using the right expression here.. :P ) of mine and I don't seem to like too much of a deviation from the originals when those are concerned. The performance is in fact pretty good, Steve's solo being a good example of the highlights of it, but I will - to the end of my days - insist that this song "should" be delivered with a certain emotional detachment (esp during the chorus). That's one of the things that made the original recording so brilliant. But sure, had I been there at the Nachtwerk concert, I'd have definitely been bouncing around with the rest of the crowd :P”

“This mix is so much more convincing than the album version. The song itself back in 1985 was so different from all the other chart material.
