“Hey kenny, Pat Benatar's voice, along with Kim's helped me keep my sanity in my teenage years. Re: Norah Jones. Why waste such a beautiful tune on someone who's happy doing elevator music? Obviously millions disagree with me but as far as I'm concerned Jones is neither pop nor jazz, it's just bland. Now if Kim would release it as a single for the next, sure-to-happen-someday umpteen compilation, it might wake people up to her versatility and her (sometimes unsung) potential. Not to mention the Byrdman's ;-)”

“Steve, making you this gift was a pleasure for all involved. As it happens, the task of buying it fell on me since I live in Paris, City of Lights and Books. Coming out of the bookstore, I passed by the Louvre and had a flashback: 20 years earlier, alone with my walkman on the night I bought "Teases & Dares". This was the location I had selected for the long-awaited ritual of discovering the New Kim Wilde Album - a beautiful, deserted and historically charged place where time seemed suspended. And I remembered how it took me a whole hour to get from A-side to B-side because I kept playing over and over that incredible track "Rage To Love". And how joyful I was for it, and going "do-be-do-be-do-do-bap-bap". In the weeks that followed, that song became like a lifebelt for me, and at times my main source of happiness - just like a dear friend. “Guys and Girls, I was just sitting on my couch feeling sorry for myself trying to read The Art Of Happiness and my eyes were looking but my brain wasn't recieving.A postal truck stopped outside and a guy came to my door with a parcel. It arrived in perfect condition and when I opened it I was amazed and gladdened by the beautiful limited edition of Le Petit Prince inside.I have not read this book but now I may be able to join in the many references to it that are posted on this site. It is one of the most thoughtful and touching gifts I have ever been lucky enough to have been given and I thank Master P and all of you from KWTV.I shall treasure this book and let my son read it after me.He devours books so this one I shall make sure he washes his hands and treats it with respect.I was taught by my old Victorian teacher as a small boy how to read a book so that it would last forever,no creases,no bumps or bruises as we had to make them last for 20 or 30 years as no one was ever going to replace them. If we would ever mark or deface a book he would do the same to us and funnily enough we almost never did. However,thanks again for an amazing gift. “Everyone's Sweetheart was written on the four track cassette portastudio, just guitar and vocals. Rick said he liked it so we took it to Battery Studios, my then publisher Zomba gave us a free week with an engineer. We got a string bass sample and programmed that in with some rythm. Then I did the guitar. Kim put her vocals on and she played the stringsand other little bits and bobs. Kim was a little melancholy at the time and a good ballad can have the same effect as a good cry I think. We did about six songs that week. It was in the mid-eighties at a guess. Steve.”

“I think this is quintessential KW I think this was her initial peak. The band were so cool,James Stevenson on guitar, Ricki on bass and Calvin Most on drums. They were fantastic and drew me towards thinking wow!I would love to play in a band like that(not to mention the rather cool and lovely vocalist(her name evades me)but they all seemed soooooo coooooooool! “Steve, I loved reading about the genesis of Rage To Love, which always was one of my favorite Kim Wilde tracks. I remember when I first listened to 'Teases & Dares' it took me a whole hour to get to the b-side because I kept listening to that fantastic song over and over (apparently, so did the critics at the time). However I'm not sure I could have stood listening to it, not to mention playing it, from 7 am to 11 pm! And we, the unsuspecting public, think videos are such great fun... I know you were in the Catch'83 tour (for some reason one image I retain from the Paris concert is you doing backing vocals to 'Dancing In The Dark'!) Then again, we all understand if you're not particulary interested in revisiting a particular time. In any case, do keep on treating us to your great stories! PS: Haven't seen neither Zardoz nor Xanadu but from what I read about those 2 movies, Xanadu is so ridiculous it beats even Sean Connery in a fur bikini. I think however you left out something important in commandment 2: Thou should never dance to Never trust a stranger after drinking too much AND wearing a bra that doesn't fit. Not something I have tried myself but I have this picture in my head from a disco back in the good old days of 1988 when a friend of mine (drunk as Dean Martin on a good day) threw herself up against every man in the disco until her boobs flew out of the bra in the middle of the raving end of Never trust a stranger. “Faith is sort of a sacred and personal view on things that we all are free to develop or not. Just like words, Faith means something sacred to me, and if some things I prefer not writing, some things about my own Faith, I know they have to remain unsaid. That s the way it is. It s like that since I m a child. My parents never gave me any religious education and gave me (the clever) opportunity to choose myself. And I chose. Just like you Pat, I was very mature for some things when I was a child and remained immature for others when I grew up. I think it s the condition of it by the way... When I was 8, I had sort of a mystical crisis and started to go to the church, going to the catholiK education school. My parents were curious and amused and asked me "Why?" and I answered "Because." I felt God, I already knew I had a special sexual preference (since I was 4, I knew what attracted me in men) and I saw God as sort of Tolerance Temple for the differences between people. It was sort of a refuge. I was a child, naive and not seeing what kind of wars religions can bring. But still, I think people don t understand what religion is about. Saint Exupéry made exactly the same when he wrote the Little Prince, he gave images to explain the mystery of our lives. The Little Prince had to learn to live alone, or at least, that we all have to stand alone. I hate religion when it s misunderstood, which is quite always. At 32, I still see Jesus and His Father as Tolerant, I could even imagine dancing with them in a gay pride ;-) Sorry God, you know me by now... Because God says there s a place for everyone on this Planet. It s not him saying condoms fight against life, it s just an old man called The Pope who probably never knew what the sexual pleasure is about and giving Love to someone also goes through sex. I think God is a glabal Love provider, sex included. That s my opinion.”

Religion is basically a dialogue with your conscience - some call it the holy part of us, others don't. But whether you believe in God or in man, the ethics are pretty much the same. And no matter what some say, they're not mutually exclusive.”

“Hmmm Minnie Mouse, you should remember that curiosity killed ze cat ;-) Listen to that my favourite mouse: my mum always had a particular feelings with cats, when I was a child, we lived in the countryside and had plenty of cats, they all followed my mother when we went out enjoying the nature and the trees in the wild forrests. When I was a teenager, my mum got into a bad and sad depression and when she cried on the sofa, her favourite cat (an old fat and beautiful tiger sort of capricious queen) slapped her in the face because she hated seeing my mum sad and low. So you know my dear mouse, those cats sometimes choose their human being because they feel what a wonderful life it could be with him or her. It felt exactly that way the other night at Pat s, it felt good as a cocoon, a quiet place out of the busy crazy world we re living in. You know that Beauty hides behind simple things, don t you? So imagine, music and japanese pale lights, drinking beers and enjoying each other s personality. It was all about that. Very simple, very natural. No place for drugs or hystery there, there was only room for sincerity without a fanfare. That s why it must have been weird for Pat thinking AliSue is part of me. It was like bubble stopping time for a while. Because we are kids and conscious of it, so we don t cry about it. It was sweet and delicate, respectfull and hanging on, opened to each other. I m a quality sucker you know, so between Mo and her splendid show, Pierre and his friendly smile and Pat, I must say I was well served in Paris in Sept '04! ”

My opinion about Jesus Christ goes something like this: if he (or He) really lived on Planet Earth (we ll never know, despite everything we know ;-), then he must have been 1 of those charismatiK personas (makes me think about someone from the contemporean PoP culture but I wouldn t like to bother Pat, not today, not yet ;-), you know, someone with mirrors in His eyes, giving everbody the possibility to see themselves in His eyes, full of compassion and comprehension. Jesus Christ was a superstar, that s right. Even if the religion that relies on him keeps on telling he was a victim of the cruel part of human nature, look at Marilyn Monroe or Madonna. When you re under the spotlights, you are loved and hated, you become reason for people to love and cry, live and die. And Jesus Christ was carried his spotlights on his back, people were throwing stones at him, he was judged because he was not allowed to enjoy sex, people wanted to see him dying on his cross, which was nothing else than his stage. All the world is a stage. Jesus Christ is an example for us here in Occident. I was in Notre Dame De Paris the other day because I never visit a town without visiting its churches and light a candle for my beloved grand mother. When I m in a church, I can feel Jesus Christ in a very precise way, which is personal. I m not religious but I can feel Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is personified for example when a princess Dies in a car crash and the whole world cries for her. They think they cry for her but they cry for themselves. However,the same heart and soul that gave the reply still exist's within me.Only my intellect has been tarnished. I was raised in the ideals of the Church of England.I never really believed in it,but I enjoyed the symbolism of the stories.The good Samaritan,the rebirth of Christ,the submission to the will of opposing forces rather than retaliation. I visited Jerusalem in the 80's whilst touring with The Kids From Fame (a huge tv show) and I was moved by the energies present.I wailed at the wailing wall,visited Bethlehem and placed my hand in the hole where his cross was mounted,but I felt nothing,other than the people pissing me off to sell me "holy water". I was also inculcated in the Crusades (the" Holy" wars of the early centuries) when the knights used to go to the middle east and fight the unbelievers. I never understood how a war could be comitted in the name of a god,or belief,and still don't to this day. As a child when we learned the stories of Jesus I could never understand how he could know that his end was coming and allow it to happen,or how his "friends" could have betrayed his trust in such a way. I wanted to go back to The Garden of Gethsemene and say,look mate,they are coming for you,lets go now and hide and we will take them on another day. According to The Bible,Jesus instead decided to let the Romans have their way and died for our sins. I find that hard to believe,so I would like to go back and meet him and see the reality. I find my own thoughts turn more to Buddha and Krishna now.I don't think I am religious,in fact I gave my soul to Rock and Roll but I find the older I get the more I am drawn to the ways of peace and love and tolerance and understanding.Really corny I know but they are my thoughts on this. He loves music and girls in music like an eternal teenager and that s lovely. He s a grown up man who managed to keep the passion alive. We were like 2 kids, enjoying music and ourselves together. Oh God, may You understand that I m not selling Pat ;-) Sure You understand... I was curious of his impressions about AliSue and asked him "Is AliSue a girl or a boy for you?", his answer couldn t be more right "AliSue would be a girl or a hysterical drag queen!" and then I told him "Imagine if I was that hysterical drag queen, you would already have pushed me out the window!" “Just another chaos at the airport... I had to jump on an EasyJet to fly back to Switzerland and like often, I tend to first take the fun before the organiZation, so there I was with my friend, sharing a very last beer in the hotel hall when the receptionist came to us "It s good taking life on its good side but I think you should hurry now if you want to catch your flight!" And then started the absurd curse, me losing my Madonna posters and the only ones that seemed to fly were my Madonna pins! Arrived at the airport I went straight to the EasyJet desk and begged the girl to call the plane to tell the back plane driver that we were arrived, her answer was a "no, it s too late, the flight is booked half an hour before the departure!" and I started to scream at her as she seemed to treat me like a stupid immature idiot, like "I repeat to you that the flight is booked..." A real chaos! The girl went left her desk and told her colleagues I treated her too bad and it was sort of a kindergarten situation with me telling her "OK, we ve been offenced? Let s make Peace and find a solution!", and her going "Only if you change your behaviour, I m not obliged to serve an fresh customer!", "Well, what the f*ck you want from me? Me on my knees, praying for your divine pardon? Forget about that now, you re a cute girl, what gets on my nerves is having lost my plane, can you get it now?"... Anyway, it was just another night in Paris Orly, in the somptuous palace Ibis Hotel ;-) Paris Sept '04 has been a fantastiK enchanting trip for a few reasons. You all know the first of all that was the '04 re-Invented Madonna which, of course James, I enjoyed like crazy! It was amazing, I loved "Deeper & Deeper" all jazzy cabaret, the AC/DC feel on "Burning Up"... What I disliked the most is what they all seem to see as the highlight of the show, which is "American Life", I found it boring and a bit passé. She made a special message to France, "last year or something, when my last album "American Life" was out, the american radio stations censored me, they prefered not playing my songs while you, in France, played it often on the radio!" (she had no choice, she had to say so for NRJ) All I can say is that a Madonna concert is like a dream. Anyone who has experienced her that way will understand me, a dream... Lisa, have a sit my girl. I met Pierre, yes I did and you know what? He s like you and me, made of flesh and bones, a gorgeous smile and a warm opened heart I guess. It was something big for me as I already told you I fell madly in love with him last year, while my real life must have felt a bit empty. We shared 1 beer or 5 (well, I was drinking beer ;-) It was sort of a natural thing, I knew I would appreciate him through his creation here and his golden soul. It was a short time at the bar but I can tell you he s a nice guy, no matter if gay or not. You know Lisa, it s not in my habits asking someone I meet "Do you prefer sex with boys or girls?" and I was meeting a person, so didn t even try to understand if he s gay or straight. All I can tell you is that he seems to have a good tongue, that works for both boys and girls! Baby Lisa, if you want to know if he s gay, ask him. And now Pat... ”

A friend of mine he didn't even want to listen to Bowie's "Life On Mars" performed live by Annie Lennox because it sounded so different from the original.. right but it was another jewel, and he may never realise it!”
“Well, I don't have to watch the vid either to give it my rating. But in my case, I'm a little more reserved. VFAB is one of those "holy cows" (hopefully I'm using the right expression here.. :P ) of mine and I don't seem to like too much of a deviation from the originals when those are concerned. The performance is in fact pretty good, Steve's solo being a good example of the highlights of it, but I will - to the end of my days - insist that this song "should" be delivered with a certain emotional detachment (esp during the chorus). That's one of the things that made the original recording so brilliant. But sure, had I been there at the Nachtwerk concert, I'd have definitely been bouncing around with the rest of the crowd :P”

It was traditional (rock'n'roll roots) and inventive at the same time.
