Où sont donc passés Greta,Chloé,Tristana,Allan? Peut être perdus dans la ronde triste? ALlez je ne vais pas m'arrêter sur un titre qui me semble être plus une opération marketing qu'autre chose..j'écouterai volontiers la chanson quand elle sortira parceque malgré tout comme tu le dis Alexandre, french music wouldn't be the same without Mylène..french what? music? ah ok..”

“This rage maybe comes from her red ambition to be, once again, as explosive as Mo with her misunderstood "American Life". Remember the video controversy with Bush smoking the cigar... Mylène also wants to get controversal now, giving her point of view about war, which is, I hope, not too pathetiK. Anyway, I m not the kind to change my mind all of a sudden, so I ll give her a huge and large chance, once again. French music wouldn t be the same without Mylène, it s worth repeating it before she comes back.”

Marcel, in the case you don t like the rousse new title, don t put the blame on me, she wrote the lyrics herself! I wondered what would be Mylène s answer to Mo s "American Life", here it is ;-)”

“Steve,

What I really like about your latest update is that it allows us to imagine what type of man/performer Michael Jackson is, unlike the mass media who force-feed us ideas of who or what he is.

I can see that he had an incredible imagination, would go to any length to entertain, astonish, impress, and as a performer, had an objective to be larger than life.

It's also obvious that he craves privacy, and wants to seperate himself from "it all."

Thanks Steve”

Honesty is a temple for me, I have no other options dear... About human condition, sometimes, only the fact that we go on is supernatural, don t you think? That s what I learnt from Albert Camus. Without a big *EgO* and in a very humble way, I have that great feeling of pride inside my heart, and it fills my whole body and soul, it s been a long way and it s not over!
*EgO*... 1 of the best by Wilde, in my opinion.
If I was a music teacher (like my dad), I would start contemporean music lessons with that song, *EgO*. The theme, the melody, the electriK voice... Just for that song, it was worth getting into Kim s universe as a singer.”

“I remember well when I sent that picture of me to you Sade II, it s from another time... My "fight club in rouge et noir" years ;-) De ce paradoxe, je suis complice!
And I finally learnt how to calm down my rages without fading to grey, it was my goal and I m happy now. Of course I m a dreamer and I think that once you don t have dreams anymore, you can die. So I go on dreaming, trying my best to realise them (2005 is another great year, you ll see ;-)
I hope you all have dreams, things you haven t done yet that you want to realise someday.
What I ve learnt so far now about my life is that, even if a diva in a night club, you won t be happier. Beyond what you show is what you are and the only 1 you can t lie to, is you. So I ve been living it all and don t regret anything, I ve always thought you can only have an opinion after having tried it, so it was part of my personal evolution. When I see younger boys/girls doing the show today, I smile inside because I know what s gonna happen.
I went to see a theatre the other night, it was "La Chute" by Albert Camus, it s all about that, in a very dark vision of the human condition. Simplicity, in my case, has saved my skin. I put all the artifices in a box and bring them out for my children s carnival, just like Kim should do with her "Second Time" outfit and stiletto heels from hell. Imagine the delighted Rose wearing those too big shoes! And Rosie goes singing "These shoes were made for singing, mum!"
About kindness, I agree. I do my best to be kind in all the different situations of life, with all my moods. But sometimes you just can t be kind, or it would be an hippocrisis. And that s 1 thing I hate and can t understand: hippocrisis, just like ignorance.
And you Sade II, I m sure it s a long way too, I mean, your life. Sometimes brave, sometimes less brave. Only human, isn t it?
Life is simply cooler and easier when you ve learnt to let go...

Spoke to Nick Boyles the other day and Kim's busy as her book is launched very soon so she'll be promoting it heavily.

I've been approached to make a film about Brian Eno so we have begun discussions .

I was wondering if there are more TV shows that we did with Kim out there Iknow Sabrina years ago made up a compilation tape maybe she could pass it on to you Pierre. i have a copy somewhere ,I'll look for it. We used to do one or two a week sometimes.

You Kim, you were our Marilyn, so no one can take that away from us. Sade was... drug addicted, she was our heroine and had a silky voice under her black ponytail. I ve writing it for several times for sure, but it doesn t matter, I write it again! "Backstreet Joe" put me some fantasies under my skin... I mean that wet clap clap sound was sort of an introduction and obsession to my sexuality, with Kim as a wild totem!
Well, the whole "Catch" album had that obsessional effect on me, all blue and mysterious and... the shoulders album! A good starter, just 1 year before "Wild Boys" and Simon... Look what they ve done to me!
On a more actual hand, I deeply advice the new Chemical Brothers and LCD Soundsystem albums. Great music.
LCD Soundsystem s history is just as glamourous as Marlene Dietrash, all about the consequences of the '20s prohibibion in NYC being restaured in the '90s by Giuliani and leading little bars to close 1 after 1, slowly leading New York City s nights fading to grey, because of that cabaret law. Very interesting also, as the band has become a legend just based on a few singles, without having ever had 1 album out. Now it s out, it was very very very excpected all around the world, and it s good, really good. The day electro met rock n'roll, that s what it s all about. Buy it.”

Well, talking of Tinas and Dusties, with a little bit more patience, maybe a young and talentuous young artist, grown up during the '80s, moving on those rythms in the backstreet with Joe will invite her singing a duett with her and we ll all be sitting in front of our TVs, smiling and wondering "What have I, what have I, what have I done to deserve this?"”

Oh Karl speaking of Live concerts remember what Security did when you were trying to record few songs wile Kim was singing on stage ?:) well they basically took you backstage but not to Kim to Coat check room LOL what a great fun and memories, well Brighton effort was little more successful, I personaly don't think Live album of Kim is such a great idea like a lot of people think, I think if Rec company should do something live has to be Visual DVD or something that you can Watch too, because Kim LIVE is more mezmorizing on stage then on CD. “That behind-the-scenes sequence of the '88 MJ/KW tour is deeelite-full Mr Byrd! Maybe it shows, between the lines, how it led Kim herself to watch her own career through a big machine lens... I saw that tour in Lausanne, Switzerland but unfortunately it was without a Love Blonde opening, if I remember well, I think Taylor Dayne did it in the land of chocolate. The show was amazing indeed, full of (kitshy & golden) visual effects, the sound was perfect and powerful, Mr Wacko was still ruling the world and it was a good publicity for Kim.
Kim had a first serious second thought about her pop career after that tour and, watching what she and he have become today, I think her choice was the best. "Bang bang"...”

About that Peter Pan syndrome, I went to see the new (and best) version of it "Finding Neverland", with Johnny Depp (grrrrrrrrrr) and Kate Winslet (hmmmmm). A simple movie proving how good it is staying a child at heart. At heart... Living my life keeping fresh and juicy, it s sort of a discipline for me. You know, that Talk Talk s title "Life s what you make it", I try to apply it the best into my own life and when it works, I m as happy as a child. But there s an ocean between keeping that flame and living in the illusion of actually being a child, which is wrong. This is my ultimate ambition in life: freedom.

Ever since the introduction of the sequencer parts have had to be played to a click track.
Its funny I can't remember it at the time, but they must have been.
I guess just the drummer had it in his mix in his headphones so we didn't have to listen to it.
Virtually all commercial music is done that way which I find a shame in a way.
Some of the more interesting bands and metal bands use speeding up and slowing down.
I think its perfectly natural.
If a drummer gets excited, let him speeed up,so long as the band and the listeners go with him.

On the MJ tour was Geoff Dugmore(currently rated top 3 worlds best recording drummer)
Also Boris Bransby Williams who went on to The Thompson Twins then a member of the Cure for 10 years.
Then Mathew Letly currently in Status Quo.
Trevor Thornton a top LA session drummer now.
Titch from Living in a Box.
Warren Cann from Ultravox.
Geoff Dunne from Van Morrison(he flew helicopters so was a fun guy to have in the band as he would pick you up in his chopper.)
There were so many,if ever you saw the movie This is Spinal Tap,which was on constant rotation on the tour buses,it would make a lot of sense.
There were more, but I forget in my dotage.

“Hi guys and gals,
I just thought I'd tell you of what happened yesterday in the depths of the new forest.
We were walking three springer spaniels hopefully away from other people as they tend to attack anything that moves.
We were lost as we had to keep avoiding floods and bogs and lost our way.
We met two guys who had maps and they said to follow them as they were monitoring a hunt in the area and would show us the way back to the road.As we walked to the direction they had shown us,I could hear hunting horns and could see the raised tails of the pack of dogs running towards us.
Lots of people in red coats on horseback with packs of hunting dogs who hunt foxes were charging through an underpass af the road.
The people we had met told us the way back to the car park we had started from.
As I knew the hunt was on the other side of the road,I thought we were safe but just as we turned back to the right direction the hunting party came charging through a tunnel under the road straight at us.
I don't know if you are aware but hunting has been banned in the UK and the people who continue are not bothered by what they do.
People have been killed for trying to stop them and suddenly we were surrounded by a pack of hunting hounds and horsemen.
As our dogs will go for anything that moves we were very scared.
The dogs came first and our dogs ran at them,we tried to call them back but with the noise of the horns, horses and dogs it was hard.
I grabbed the two females who are the worst for fighting and tried to drag them away.
Poor Kath their owner was nudged by the pack and it was very scary indeed.
If they had thought we were there to stop their hunt anything could have happened.
Fortunately our dogs just wanted to run with the pack, and would probably have been accepted but it was a surreal end to a quiet walk in the woods.
So .....if you go out in the woods tonight ...you'de better be prepared for a fright!

I don't think you can say one is better or worse as they are both incredibly talented performers in totally different ways.
I think the biggest difference is the backgrounds they came from.
David was arty middle class English,Michael ,American show business.
They both perform at the top of the tree in their chosen fields.
I also think David saw more of life and was influenced by more varied styles, wheras Michael stuck to his Soul,Dance roots.
He also dabbled in Rock and Pop too though.
I will tell of the contrast in seeing them both on tour (with Kim) in the next part of my diary.

“the case Michael Jackson... Well, in my point of view, he s a perfect exemple of what stardom can inflict to you when you live in a bubble (with a Bubble ;-), this poor old thing used to be so talentuous, remember the golden "Off the wall" and "Thriller" years. He was a king and could even dance on the moon! And then things started to go wrong with "Bad". Bad indeed, bad taste for clothes, some beautiful songs, but slowly becoming a Muppet Show version of himself. I mean, the Jackson family has never proved a good taste for scandals in the media, remember Pepsi ("Oh my God! Michael has lost his hair!!!"), remember his "forever young bed", his best friend or his twin? A monkey anyway... His sister LaToya could have made a unique historical move by guest appearing in the "Thriller" vid! and Janet seems too kind and lovely to be sincere, doesn t she? And now, Michael with the kids in America... A long story, a sad story if it only shows that money can buy anything, even freedom when you have broken a child. I mean, I don t give a f*ck about "Did he do it or not?", it s a non sense debate, you can see perverts anywhere and in Michael s case, what s visible on every picture of him is that he s very sick. He s lost and sick, getting older with a 4 years old brain can make disaster, especially when you ve been a king. The real thing to do would be taking him in a centre with other people from the real life, fighting to get better. Michael Jackson is the simple result of a human being who s always managed to live in another world, far away from other human livings. The most accessible when you re in a mental disorder are the children because they re innocent. That s the real problem, then knowing what he does with his penis, let s leave that subject to the court and taking care of our own people.
Michael Jackson was a great musician, his blood could have been funky like a red hot chilli pepper but it was not, like his skin becoming more invisible everytime. More than invincible, MJ will disappear by becoming invisible...”

It's a real circus, and more people want to attend that one than Ringling Brothers. I don't know what to believe, but I don't think EVERYTHING we're hearing is true. I think some of it might be, but a lot of it is lies and it's only because he chooses to look and live a certain way, which isn't fair. I heard last week that Macauly Culkin refuses to testify either for or against him, so there's no telling what that means or what he's afraid it will do to his own no-longer-flaming-hot career. The authorities have been in his compound collecting DNA samples from the furniture and discovering things young boys have told the court about exactly where they said the items would be. Could some of this stuff be planted? Who knows? I feel a bit sorry for Michael, yet it's hard to be sure what the truth is. I'd just hate to be in his shoes either way. ”

At first I thought Michael was definitely guilty of being a kiddy fidler. Was something to do with the way he conveniently left the country, but with the second case I felt he was set up by the media and greedy parents.

Was a bit strange on TV the way he reacted to a picture of a two year old child, and started moaning "oh the baby, what a cute, beautiful

When we were naming my son,we had no ideas,so we both went for a sleep after a long night in labour and when we met again we both said at the same time,I've thought of the name.
Then at the same time we said Adam,we had never discussed this so it seemed like a sign.”

“For your information Liv is also a name in Danish and the word does mean 'life' like in Swedish etc.
You are allowed to call your daughter Wendy but I'm not sure about Janine. I think maybe it would be okay if you want to call your daughter Janine as it is very similiar to names like Jane and Jannie.
I can tell you that in Denmark in 2004 there was 499 people called Liva. Compared to other names like my other daugther Iben (3511 people) and my son Thure (69 people) and my own name Anders (35110 people) it seems as if it is not that common but still not very rare like Thure.

The second chorus reaches such overwhelming tension and Kim is fully up for it. She punches her fist at the sky while she tosses her head back parallel with it, and at the end whipping herself up with more aggression before the final release when her jacket closes the intense drama like a closing curtain. Don't mess with Kim when she's in this kind of mood!”

Liva
First appeared as the stage name of a very famous Danish actress/singer in the 1920's, 30's and 40's. Her real name was Olivia Olsen but on stage she was called Liva Weel. She was not a pretty lady but a real diva. She was very popular but with a sad life offstage with bad marriages and a drinking problem. She died in 1952 only 54 years old but still her songs are well known and played on the radio. I like some of them a lot, very good lyrics and melody.

So just keep doing it until you learn how from disasters,or underwhelming results.

“To School girl and Kathryn,

I was sick this week, but I finally got around to baking the quiche today, which Pat err politely told me to do.

I didn't really want to make the base (pastry) it had so much butter in it, as well as heaps of butter/cream/cheese in the mixture, so I decided not to make the base.

Then I found a recipe that uses filo pastry, (leek quiche), so I went for that one. The only problem is filo pasty isn't easily available from any of the supermarkets in Japan, so as an alternative, I used baking paper, the stuff used to line the cake tin when baking a cake.

Kathryn, I envy you. Steve's curry sounds very delicous!

The quiche didn't stick, which I expected, but it kind of tasted like scrambled eggs with cream?

Anyhow, I'm not going to let myself feel upset about this one. The recipe mentioned nothing about flour, so it makes sense why it wasn't very nice. I'm going to throw half of the quiche in the bin!

Pierre, sorry to write so much bull shit here, School girl just wanted to know how it turned out.

Alexandre, I'm so proud of you!

Some things I ve done in the past I can t believe it was me. I have no regrets but knowing myself more than anyone, I know I ve come close to death with drugs. My new addiction is jazz, sports, sex, good food, good laugh, quality moments with the people I love. I love to care about them. I ve changed a lot, even since we first met. Some things were emergencies. I m not the type of guy sitting to enjoy my own life, thinking "Wow, you did it!", I have no time to waste now. Just things to achieve. It drives me nuts when people who pretend they're happy all the time insist that I listen to songs like "The Locomotion" all the time "because it's not dreary." They're missing the beauty and artistic form that negative expressions parlay, and also the fact that it's healthy to vent. Yeah, I've identified for the last 20 years very strongly with "Fit In" myself, but on a social level. Also, I find songs like "Love's a No," "How Do You Want My Love," "Four Letter Word," and "It's Too Late" to be personally very painful, yet irresistible. Kim's music is very personable on many levels. But let's face it; "Time" is absolutely wonderful in it's optimism! I know it really doesn't apply on this website, but another optimistic song I absolutely love is "Love is Gonna Come at Last" by Badfinger. That's very encouraging in a bad mood.

I think the lyrics to "Fit In" are so sad and quite prophetiK in the lady s destiny in the pOp industry. All alone, a telephone that teases and dares, people hoping you ll soon be out... Kim, beyond her very special voice and her beauty, was also more inspired by melancholy when she sang. But I mean, aren t sad songs more beautiful than happy ones? Apart "Ray Of Light" of course! “Sure, life would be very dull indeed if it was only good times. I've always had a much bigger 'negative' vocabulary than a 'positive' one. I still can't relate to a song like 'World in perfect harmony' or 'Sweet inspiration' because it's a level of happiness I just can't grasp.
I think it was, again, Black himself who responded to 'Wonderful life' best with his 1991 song 'This is life'. But Kim has also written about this feeling of being overwhelmed a couple of times, for example in 'Now & forever' (the song).
However, although these difficult times are steep learning curves, that's not the first priority in one's mind when they're going through them. Strange thing about the human mind: we always want the things that we don't have at any given time. Years ago I wanted a good job. I found it, then I wanted a good home. And it's not just material things: also emotionally and spiritually a human is always striving for the seemingly impossible. I would do anything not to have my current state of mind but my state of mind is exactly what made me the person I am - and there are some rare occasions when I actually think I'm not a bad person.
So the message to the baby - with whom this discussion started after all - would probably: you've got a difficult time ahead of you, but it may be worth it. That's quite a heavy message, but absolutely a true one. ”

Alexandre
wrote

“Hey Marcel! I like it sharing points of views and feelings with you you know!
Well, about that "Beautiful Life", on a philosophiKal hand, don t you think that life can actually become wonderful once you ve passed all these incidents? I mean, life is not only easy, and about that, like in the WC, we are all the same, from Dietrich to your supermarket cashier girl and... I personally think that life and experience of life is gained more through difficulties than happy moods. We learn to be happy and come closer to our inner selves through hard times, difficult choices. In my case, I had a big *EgO* problem to resolve, Kim Wilde helped me a lot (through your site first, 1 of the reasons why you found me sometimes sooo irritating ;-) and finally here, on KWTV. It s been my *EgO* therapy. I had to learn to communicate with people without killing them, and thoses words that fell down here have taught me a lot about that, about becoming sweeter to myself and, as a consequence, with the others. Words are very important to me, they are violent, beautiful, ugly, sweet, romantiK, happy, shiny and sad. They describe our moods and I ve realised an amazing trip through those Wilde words, first as AliSue, and once my *EgO* problems resolved, under my name again. And... before all that, I knew that life is a short a wonderful experience, that there s no time to waste, but I couldn t get to it because I was a warrior. As I saw my *EgO* finding its normal size again, life has become wonderful.
That s why even if cynical, "Wonderful Life" by Black may be the result of a smart and clever man, going through all his difficulties and realising that even after all that s*it, standing on your own by the sea can make you still believe that this life is wonderful. A good welcome for a child in this crazy world, where nature seems to have decided to express itself violently now... Sure Kim s own living is more wonderful today than 15 years ago. After the show biz and its at first sight sad issue, life has become even more wonderful. We play our cards Marcel. I wish you the best.

“You guys keep surprising me. Alexandre, you have just cited my most favourite songs of all time. And I realise that it's blasphemy, because I should probably choose a Kim Wilde song, but Black's 'Wonderful life' is a song I have never been tired of because it works on so many different levels. Most people don't know that this song is actually quite cynical. The phrase 'wonderful life' is meant as a stab at how miserable life actually is. I think most of us have had rough times, but the writer of this song, Colin Vearncombe a.k.a. Black wrote this song after a whole year of terrible experiences: car accidents, divorce, a career almost going down the drain - you name it. The feeling of total and utter loneliness in this song is something that I have always been able to relate to, in a way.
Colin is touring the UK in May, and if you get a chance to see him you should really check it out. He's one of the nicest men in pop music I have had the pleasure to meet, and besides the epic 'Wonderful life' he has composed so many beautiful works of Art, he can almost be considered the male version of Kim Wilde. As in talent, not good looks, mind you! ”

Well now Christmas is over its time to see what the New Year will hold.
I am getting more interested in World Music and am hoping to record some this year.
I so far have got a Bouzouki, from Greece,a Balalaika from Russia,an American Banjo and find them ok to play.
I intend to collect local music and instruments in Morocco too.
I am in a Spanish band and will be there this summer to play and listen.
Next I want to go to India,I tried the Sitar when I was young, but I could not sit in the Lotus position and the pick has to almost break your finger too, like a chinese puzzle,so I found it impossibly painful, maybe I'll just sit with it on my lap like a guitar.
JR and Lisa,no news of foreign tours yet,but we do a gig for the promoter in London next month so I will try and find out what is happening then.
Wildestorm, are you a Viking nation?I never know if they were just Swedish,Danish or all of the Scandinavians.
I saw a worrying article about the trend for new kids names in the UK,after the USA's introduction of Mercedes etc, they reckon top names for new kids in the UK would be Nokia,Orange etc.

Lisa, Ava is a great name in english but pronounced in Danish it sounds horrible.
Schoolgirl, in Denmark there is a law telling what you can call your children and how you can spell it and Thea is a well known name in Denmark but we would never be allowed to spell as you suggest.
I hope we will come up with a name soon as we only can refer to her as "baby" and "Little sister" right now and we really don't want that to stick. It can be hard to get rid off a nickname later in life.
Keep the names coming and maybe you can be the inspiration, maybe not as it is a serious choice to make.

Have a lovely time in Morocco? Is Kathryn going with you? Hope you both have a fun and relaxing time. I think Alexandre wrote about an adventure or two he had over there. Was it something about being a little boy and meeting a sailor?

Now Steve, why 15 guitars, and why did you borrow each others? What I'd like to know is, does one guitar produce a different sound over another, or are they all the same? In other words, do you collect them because they're pretty, or because you're in search of a different effect? Is there a particular one you'd like to buy at the moment?

I'd love to learn to play either the guitar or the piano, but, like most of us, I'm leading a very busy life and don't have time to learn.

How about your children, did you teach them how to play? Were they interested in music?
Did Kim fancy to play a little guitar?

This trend has spread to the software industry as well - finding big, nice boxes with manuals heavy enough to be classified as lethal weapons is almost impossible today. And yet the software industry is surprised that piracy is constantly increasing?
I see many parallels with the music industry here, such as mainstreaming the whole market and ignoring the small, but perhaps brilliant, developers when doing so.”

“Hello James!
The "remix industry" has evolved a lot during the '90s, pushed by the electro culture. Some remixes have no less (and sometimes more!) different versions than an album. It s all about selling more of course, a singer like Bjork, who is a total respected contemporean artist is declined in so many ways through her famous remixes, you know, it s sort of a second/underground/clubbey life for an album and an efficient way to make 15 out of 1. The '80s singles were all about promotion with their extended and instrumental versions, most of the time they were totally uncreative but now it s all become a whole creative process and it s an interesting culture, even if commercial strategies by the majors selling big names... I wonder what kind of deal is made between a big star DJ being asked by a major to remix a big name. I m sure Felix The Housecat does not have a big interest for Mylène Farmer, but for $$$ yes ;-)”

I also noticed that the better one can pull this off, the more interesting and diverse characters one meets. (and some new star signs as well.)
My strange 'coincidence' in this 'wilde' affair is that I have the same birthday like Joyce Wilde (except for the year that is). I discovered this on the year planner the fanclub once sold when Melanie was in charge. I've loved the music and was fan of Kim all these years and discovering this made me wonder what a strange 'coincidence' this was. Funny isn t it? We haven t been communicating for months on your forum, the very 1 I started to let myself go Wilde again and now luxuray has wanted us to share our points of view on another site? We 2 are... rock chics Marcel!
OK, I admit Mylène is an angel, but the kind of angel born of marketed analysis. Her and Boutonnat s question is: "Well, they seem to be addicted now, how can we decline 1 decadent song in 15 ways? Let s ask Felix Da Housecat and Calderone to remix it, they re gonna buy anyway..." I respect a lot the artist, I m sure she s more sensitive than most human beings and her message is like an angel, maybe is it beyond her control? What I dislike is the way they take the fans adoration for granted, like if her audiance was stupid. And even if stupid, she s become rich, rich, rich... Her come back on stage is planned in Paris Bercy in Spring 06 for 13 dates, with a start on a Friday 13th, brrr... Mylène at the pick of her mystiK! It s a huge project with an interaction between the artists and the public, sounds very exciting, especially because Boutonnat (the brain) is involved again. What I love in Mylène s universe is the decadance, the Middle Age/Bond Age vibes, the abandon... What I dislike in Mylène s universe is her lack of inspiration leading her to transvestite herself in... her old herself, her mareketd/chignonné angel image, so pathetiK, isn t it?
Her new record, "Avant Que l Ombre...", out in March, will present 14 new songs, all written with Laurent Boutonnat, I just selfishly hope she has understood that we all have got tired of her '90s image. I would love to enjoy her in a more natural and simple way. We ll see!
Au Revoir Mr Big M ;-)

It all began with the launsh of the CD and thay have got it wrong ever since content/price and packaging and blamed everybody else.Re packaging and album cover was art and was always an event ( from Pink Floyd to little bands) and their was always a huge consideration and competition about creating something that you would be proud to frame and put on your wall even. You cannot acheive any impact with a CD cover and so it has lost it's place in pop art.
There is no concept of long term success and building a fan base etc. Just look at you guys as a prime example of loyalty to an artist.
This isn't rocket science but pure common sense and the formula will always work and they refuse to go back to this method. Rather they stil persue one hit acts and do not develop. Many bands in the 70's and 80's didn't even make a mark until the 3rd album. U2 is a classic example and they are the only band now that has timeless appeal globally. If Chris Balckwell had given up early on they would be knowhere.
Anyway more for discussion...”

“I would love to get the 7" single and the LP back, I still collect and listen to the old ones at home and I think it's so nice to hear an old record with a bit of noise and everything. Still you could make the transfer to the computer and share your music, but I think people will rather actually buy and OWN a copy of an album if it's made in vinyl with a real cover. It's just not the same thing with the CD.
What are we? - Old people or just being nostalgic, maybe but we still are people who buys CD's and it just seems as if you got more for your money when you bought a 33" LP than when you buy a CD.”

Of course they do it for classic re-issues like they did for Led Zeppelin,DVD etc.
I just heard more talk of Sony buying BMG.
That would almost mean just one world publisher and one world record label (Universal or whoever)
thats a scary thought.

The record companies have been whingeing about loss of profit because of "evil" people "stealing" music through downloading. Truth is, pirates and private citizens were much faster than the companies to make use of this new technology called the internet. When the record companies jumped on the train, the train had alreadyl left.
CD's were supposed to be the holy grail to save the record industry but instead it effectively killed it in the end. I cannot imagine there being a big record industry in, oh, 20 years from now. Killing off TOTP and the singles charts are just two of the signs of the future.
They should never have ended 7"es, 12"es and albums, I think. They could never be copied, and indeed, they were works of art to collect.”

It is with great interest that I am following your writings about bringing the music back to it's original state of Art. With a capital A that is.I mean, when there still was the lp and the 12" and singles, we could find double lp's with extensive lyrics and notes and photos. It was a jewel, true Art sometimes. It all lost the impact with the cd I'm afraid. And some companies cut down so hard on budgets, it's all gone peershaped. Something is lost, sometimes it's looks that kill (hip hop- bikini :-/), sometimes this makes one wonder where is the beautiful music still?
Yes, I'm afraid there is a bit of a loss and I really am wondering if it will all come back to that level again?”

Good words.
I would like to see the music industry return to music rather than marketing.
A new kind of punk revival, not in terms of the aggression in the music but the way it took the system by surprise and put them on their arses, whilst also giving them a kick up them.
Unless I'm not tuned in,I don't see anyone using the medium of the www to its full potential in music.
Where are the internet superstars?
If Pierre can do what he does here, then why haven't other acts capitalised on the potential?
I personally can't be bothered, but I would have thought some bright young things would have done so by now.

But unfortunately those music shows they used to have (Peter's Popshow and Thommy's Popshow) do not exsist anymore. Instead of that we have shows like "The Dome"...same concept but not as good as in former times. The artists (???) they show are just horrible. Mainly one hit wonders. But it might be a question of generations...the young ones just love this show. Maybe I'm too old already ;-))) But isn't it the same with "Top of the pops"? I want Mariah Carey to shut the f*%¤ up for good. Or Uma Thurman to come after her ass in full Kill Bill mode.

I want Madonna to make up her mind what f****** religion she belongs to.

I want Jamis Joplin to come back from the grave. And maybe swap places with that racist c*** from the Cranberries.

I want peace on earth. Heavy metal on Eurovision. All the unreleased material by Aretha from Atlantic. Yoko Ono to entitle her autobiography "If It Makes Sense You're Not Reading The Right Book". Kim's b-sides and unreleased tracks on CD. The Byrdman, Richard and Jeff on stage with her. Another 'Shangri-La' remix. The 'Master singing in his 'Master Class.”
