“Backstreet Joe: As for BOM, I felt it to be one of the most trivial songs on the entire album. While I still can't say that I think it's _good_, to my mild surprise Ill Inspecta's contribution added a whole lot, plus the fact that the song's been rearranged for the better in general. I might not be a huge fan of reggae/reggaeton, but it has got it's place - original BOM felt out of place and not very appealing to me at all, while the new version seems to have found its own roots and as a result has become much better. This is a song I'd not mind listening to while lying in the sun with a drink - I can't say same about the album version of BOM.”

“Girls in music: Well, I suppose it's been a male dominated scene - when it comes to band members, obviously, as femme singers/front persons has been a relatively sight. Female instrumentalists are still quite uncommon, though we might see somewhat more of them today than some 20 years ago. On the other hand, there was a surge of female bands (or partial femme bands) in the 80s that I wouldn't simply ignore (for some reason, the only example that pops up in my head right now is glam metal Vixen *coughs* There were others though - promise :D). Anyway, as far as I can tell, some constellations are more rare than others - for instance a "mixed" band with a girl on the drums (though we just witnessed that here) or on the lead guitar. I'd easily expect it to be far more common to see femme drummers and guitarists in all-out female bands rather than bands consisting of both genders.”

“Thanks Steve and Iguanaking,we're mostly disappointed for our girls. Those caves seem very beautiful but the only idea of walking in deep dark even with a light just scares me. I had a first flight when I was a teenager,in flight the pilot suddenly cut the motor without warning us,he laughed of his joke but we had the fright of our lifes for a few seconds,but it was really fantastic to have a different way of vision.Since my youth,I'd like a parachute jump with a pro but for the moment I'm not courageous enough to make the step. Karina,I listened to Amy Winehouse on Youtube,she has a nice voice,I've discovered To know him is to love him sounding great.It's true she seems not being well in her shoes. I also listened to Anna,I too prefer Dreamer soul,Anna's voice is sweet on it,this track fits to my tastes,and I think I would have recognized Steve' sound without being known. ”

Never heard her band Mysteries of Life until just a few days ago. I knew OF then, but never heard them. The singer/guitarist Jake Smith is Freda's hubby. I don't know why, but he kinda reminds of of Dave Wakeling.”

“Karina, no I don't, its just a passion of mine that I can only pursue once a year. No big deal. I don't know what I like most, dropping into the cave, or passing a HUGE bottle of Goldschlager around our "simulated campfire" (real fires, not a great idea in Colorado, so we hang a Coleman lantern on a tripod). Next thing you know, Staff Sergeant Wilcox gets up and starts the "chicken dance". She cracks us up and gets us ALL acting crazy every time. Wow!!! You know...Goldschlager is a great remedy for the itch of mosquito bites.”

“Steve, I used to do those same things as a kid. I agree, very silly, looking back on it. These days, would I ever go spelunking by myself? Not a chance in hell! I know now that it is SO easy to simply cease to exist in one of those caves. Nobody would find you for YEARS, and in reality it would just be some guy who accidentally stumbles over your bones. A friend, or a few friends going with you increase your chances of survival exponentially. Its always SUCH great fun going on those trips though. We usually set up camp by a beaver dam...those beavers seem to almost say "oh...its those guys again. Its alright, junior, they're cool, they won't mess with us" The night sky is AWESOME, SOOO many things you can see without the interference of city lights. Then there is the nocturnal wildlife all around you. A fox had better taste than me, apparently. I was eating the charred remains of what was intended to be a burger, and this fox jumps onto me and snatches the burger right out of my hand. He gets maybe 5 feet away from me and drops the burger, stops to sniff at it...kicks a couple pawfuls of dirt onto it and runs off into the forest. I was happily eating that, but this fox apparently thought "OMG...what the hell is wrong with these people! Their food is awful!"”

“Karina, I forgot to comment on the flooding here. We are lucky ,the sea is just 400 metres away and all the rain goes thataway. In the forest its great, there are new lakes everywhere,so long as you have high boots,Wellingtons we call them, its good fun. You just wade off into it and always find in the middle it fills your boots and you're up to your knees,but its summer,supposedly,who cares. Mind you,I wouldn't want to see an analysis of the water with the amount of poo and dead creatures in there.The forest is full of wild horses,donkeys,pigs,sheep,deer,you name it,if it lives in England,we gottem! The dogs love it,its like fine champagne for them,yuk!”

“IK, wow sounds exciting. I grew up next to Derbyshire which has lots of deep (for the UK ) limestone caves. As a kid we went in with candles,some were huge caverns,some were tiny bores ,all prone to flash floods as its so porous. Other times we'de go in the dark. Very silly as you could fall down a hole and die and no one would know. When I was little we used to be able to go to Castleton and dig out Blue John,the only place in the world to find it. A kind of deep blue,veined flourospar,very pretty when polished. I was gutted to find when I went back as an adult they had concreted all of the access holes and fitted metal doors.”

Just a comment on what you said about writing in English and French...don't worry about it. ;) English has been my first language since the day I was born, and I STILL manage to not successfully communicate my thoughts in writing on the internet, in English. I know you were talking to Steve when you said that, but I just wanted to let you know...its all cool. We all deal with that. :) Steve, when I'm spelunking I don't necessarily need a good head for heights. It is completely dark where I go, stays a constant 55 degrees fahrenheit, no matter what the temperature is outside. My biggest challenge is living long enough to get there. Pretty hard to breathe at that altitude. I sit on a rock at the mouth of the cave and wait for my color vision to finally return, then I go in and have the time of my life! Your vision gets all granulated, with a black circle around it...and the entire world has absolutely no color to it. But, eventually, your body adjusts. Gotta love those cave spiders, they weave the most beautiful webs...they look just like Japanese paper lanterns. I have to be VERY careful when viewing them though. These spiders have absolutely no pigment in their exo-skeleton, so visible light can easily kill them.”

I agree IK,vacation are a good time for peace and reflexion,people overthere have way of thinking and living very different of other areas from France where I lived but I like them yet,very different but really nice.Vacation are also made to live differently. Provence has a really good influence on me.I couldn't live there all year long as they're too deeply remote tiny villages,they're sad and desolate out of season but in summer,tourists from different countries bring a very happy atmosphere.Provence is green gold. Steve,you ever know all this above as I ever wrote it you before I leave,I ever told you there's often an unwedging between my French and my way of saying in English,I don't know if I'm wrong or right but I had the feeling it sounded negative with my English words when it would have sounded realistic but positive if I could have talked in French.It's really difficult for me. I still have this feeling today,I never know if what I write is perceived the way it should be,I don't master English enough. I read on the forum on wildelife Filipe saying the same idea. I heard Ben's brother,I think it's very beautiful,it's the kind of music I like at the first listening.To me,it smells big success. ”

For real,overthere we feel cut from the world,in another era.Sometimes we need to return in the real world for a few hours.We have to climb a bit in the hill if not the mobile phone doesn't work,we only succeed in having three channels but only one has good images and the radio was stolen next time.We live very simply but I like it.Have you ever watched La gloire de mon père and Le château de ma mère by Claude Berry inspired by the novels by Marcel Pagnol(he's one of my favourite writers,he beautifully tells Provence),it looks like the way we live and the same landscapes.It's a very little house without pretention but I love this place,full of good memories,a place to cross my family or friends.It's like I open a treasures box each time I go overthere.The first I like when I arrive there,it's opening my car door and hearing cicadas singing to welcome us.I go there since I'm 3 but I'm always under the spell.”

It was so amazing, great, wonderfull, awesome. brilliant...... she sang some old and some new songs; Kids in America, Perfect girl, You came, Together we belong, Hanging on........ She looked perfect! Also she danced a lot and it was really sexy!!! I enjoyed it a lot!!! “JR,I agree with you,this Harry Potter mania is beyond measure,I'm not keen of any mania.I heard on tv news a girl in London saying she had waited 13 hours in front of the store to be sure to have a exemplar of the new book,it's mad.I adore Kim but even for her I couldn't be that mad. I lately came to Harry Potter through my daughters,they like it but don't see him like their heroe.Although they are young,they realise it's only a story,all ends when the film is over.But we love to be together so Harry Potter is a good excuse (or any other video of their choices)to share a good time. I think the author had a good idea at the origin but it didn't need seven books,it's the goose that laid the golden eggs.Yet even if I think it's not a very good writer(but it's supposed to be written for children and I only have the French translation),she succeeded in catching my eye as I usually never read contemporary writers,only 18th-19th'ones. ”

I don't understand, i went to see Harry Potter 1, and Second both times i fell asleep and I NEVER in my life feel alseep wile watching movies...Strange. I guess its for Kids but now adults are going ga-ga over the books, and movies.. Crazy. “Caro, I know exactly what you mean when you say you consider those animals to be under your protection. When I was 12 years old, I was at a local park with my family and found 4 older boys who had two ducks trapped near the mouth of a screened-over water pipe. They were throwing rocks at these poor ducks and I had to do something, so I charged in. I got the living hell beat out of me, but I wouldn't give up, so they went away. The funniest thing happened after that. These ducks, a male and female, came out of the area they were trapped in and started following me everywhere in the park. I sat down to take care of my wounds and they both came up and sat down next to me...the male on one side, and the female on the other. I started sharing my lunch with them and pretty soon, people in the park noticed this strange sight. A few came over to get a closer look, and both ducks actually jumped up and ran after these people, pecking at their feet to chase them away. Then they came right back and sat down next to me again. It was such a cool experience, it was like they had adopted me as their duckling or something. :D JR, I remember seeing that on VH1 a few weeks ago. That was quite a pleasant surprise to see Kim mentioned. I was absolutely enthralled with her from the first day I saw her video on TeleTunes when I was 10.”

“Iguanaking,it was the only one time I saw this animal,my sister's cat brought it us [Steve,it was alive,I promise!How naughty cats can be,can't they!;)] it only did the dead so the cat went away,we didn't want to afraid it so we went away too and a few minutes later,it had disappeared.It's a wild place so we know there are wild animals like foxes,hares,boars living in the hill,we never see them but they leave traces,one trunk of pine is weared out because a boar.Hunters take advantage of the house is not often inhabited to come and hunt in the hill,it's a tiny village and they must know it's private but they don't care.We came once in November and their dog ran after my cat,we saw the dog but only heard the hunters.It makes me feel angry,I consider that animals living in my hill are under my protection. I went to the cinema yesterday and watched the last Harry Potter,I thought it was less dark than in the book but I had a good time though. ”

“Caro, I think you'd find that most reptiles, even the bigger ones, are just as afraid of you as you are of them. ;) I agree though, they're not like dogs, they generally don't want to interact with us. Many lizard species, like my iguanas, however, are very inquisitive and sometimes will interact with people just because they are interested in finding out what we are. Some actually even develop a preference for certain people. I had a female iguana at the reptile shelter I do volunteer work for that would actually come running to me and climb up to my shoulder. All she had to do was hear my voice and she came running. Aside from that, I guess its all a matter of what you're exposed to. My niece, Kami, is 3-years-old and her favorite animal at the zoo is an albino monacled cobra. She's absolutely fascinated by it. She's also really starting to like the creatures that Steve mentioned, the Komodo dragon. I have a couple of good photographs of her standing near a 9'-long 300+ pound female Komodo dragon. Don't worry though, there was 3"-thick Lexan between her and the dragon. I guess the main goal of our education program is to show people that reptiles aren't evil monsters that seek them out to hurt them. These legends lead to all kinds of acts of cruelty toward reptiles, and most of it is out of fear. We try to teach people that they can peacefully coexist with them.:) Steve, Yup, its definitely my dream job...sometimes its a love/hate relationship though. Not sure about where dinosaur's ended up in the modern world. Some say they turned into reptiles, others say they turned into birds. I'm thinking there is a great deal of truth in both theories. Strangely enough, iguanas share a couple of adaptations with sharks. They have multiple rows of teeth that are nearly identical in shape, sharpness, and mechanics as those of a shark. They also have a nictitating membrane in their eyes, which is like a second eyelid. Eyesight is very important to both species, so they both have a little bit of extra, built-in protection. Yup, the bite of a Komodo dragon is highly toxic due to the bacteria in their saliva. The bite victim usually dies of septicimia within hours. As far as my toys go, I guess I'm just lucky enough to have friends with MUCH more money than me. I keep them flying, and they let me play with their toys. :D ”

Actually, even Levis are a little extravagant for me. ;) I'm a jeans and t-shirt kind of guy, and I feel so lucky that I can earn a good living without having to dress up. I actually feel pity for people who have to wear ties and uncomfortable clothing every day. Probably not much in the world makes me happier than getting black and greasy from head to toe making an old warbird fly again. My current project is a North American AT-6A, a WWII US trainer aircraft. This particular one was built on December 24th, 1941...and we're down to the final stretch, the electrical system. Its going to be so cool when this thing takes to the air again. “Well I can beat all of that for extravagance. In about 86,I had a record deal with Virgin with ex Culture Clubs Jon Moss. We used to send our designer to NY to buy up vintage Levis,blue and white. He would then take them apart and custom make them to fit us,shoulder pads of course.Then he'd hunt around for vintage leather and army memorabilia and customise that and make panels and patches and so on. Each jacket came in at £2000,the jeans a snip at £1000. Now ,just gimme Levis and a white or black T shirt,pair of cycle pumps,I'm happy. I get given loads of stuff by Lambretta,which suits my vintage and roots.The rest people buy for me and it gets put away never to be seen again. My other things are my old Fiat Coupe,just done new tyres,brakes,A/C,steering at 5 times its worth,but I love it. And guitars,most of them come in at a couple of £1000's,and one old one would buy me a nice new Mercedes,but I prefer the guitar.”

The red shoes I bought for the Kim Wilde gig at La Cigale cost me only $26.95 (They were on clearance sale and probably looked as cheap as they actually are) I don't own a lot of shoes, just half a dozen nice pairs that I wear to death and couple of very special ones that I wear on a Friday night. I'm very practical. On average I pay between $60 - 120. The most expensive shoes I ever bought were $ 400 and I hate them because they are almost impossible to walk in and they sit in a box. Great to look at, but such a waste of money, I was so stupid. I also once bought my mother a pair of $250 shoes as a present for organizing some things for me and pair of leather boots which I've kept for years and years and consider them to be a timeless investment ?!? Went window shopping in a shoe studio two weeks ago - the average price for a pair were $600 and I didn't like any of them! Speaking as someone who has worked in the financial industry (hope this doesn't sound to you like a lecture), you need to justify what you value in life. Going overseas is more important to me than having a pair of designer shoes, so I'll go for a cute pair of cheapskate ones. Though, once in awhile buying something really gorgeous for yourself is a fantastic therapy, because when you look better on the outside you sometimes feel better on the inside, so if you justify that feeling to be more important than going overseas or whatever, then it's okay :) so maybe you didn't pay too much. You're worth it, take care of the shoes, but don't make it an expensive hobby!! Lisa xo”

“Electrolytes, much like they are in electronics and batteries, are the metals that are necessary for conducting electrical impulses in your various organs. Gareth321 mentioned a couple of them, Na and K. Oddly enough, in addition to its role in strong bones, Calcium is another one of these electrolytes and it is also important to heart function. There are, of course, lots of other electrolytes that are critical. They are lost through normal bodily functions and have to be replaced with a varied diet, just like Gareth said. Summer is an extremely dangerous time for guys like me who go out and work inside aluminum cans in the sun for most of the day. The highest temperature I have worked in was 157 degrees fahrenheit. The natural tendancy is to drink lots of water, and this actually accelerates the loss of electrolytes which puts you in danger of heart failure. So, we usually switch over to drinking sports drinks like Gatorade or Powerade in the summer time. Muscle cramps and weakness in the legs is one of the first warning signs of an imbalance. So, same as Gareth suggested, keep variety in your diet and don't go too crazy trying to purge things. ;)”

“Here's my green chile recipe: 1lb. of tomatillos (remove leaves) 1lb. or red tomatoes 1lb. of jalapeno peppers 1lb. of Anaheim chile peppers 1lb. of ground pork or turkey (vegans can of course substitute with something else) 32oz. of chicken or vegetable broth 1 large, white onion 1 lime 1 large, Nopales cactus leaf (they grow everywhere here in Colorado), de-spined (this part is always an adventure...LOL) Ground cumin, Oregano, salt and pepper to your individual taste (I like lots of ground cumin in mine, gives it a very woodsy flavor) For endorphine junkies(as I tend to be): You can add .25lbs. of Habanero peppers. Warning though, this addition is not for the timid. 1 cup of rice, cooked thoroughly 12oz. of your favorite beer 2 to 3 cloves of garlic 14oz. of canned black beans (fully rinsed) Wrap all pepper types in aluminum foil and roast in oven set on broil, or over an open fire until the skin is dark brown. Grind roasted peppers and all remaining vegetable, including the lime (AND its peel) ingredients up in a food processor. If you choose to add the habanero peppers to the mix, be very careful NOT to breathe the vapors from the ground, roasted habaneros. The vapors will cause almost immediate respiratory arrest, but consuming the flesh is perfectly safe and actually quite good for you. Combine all of the vegetable ingredients in a large pot. Pour the chicken or vegetable broth into the food processor and run it...this will get most of the leftover vegetable ingredients rinsed off the food processor parts and into the broth. Pour the broth into the pot. Cook the mixture over low heat for 7 to 8 hours, stirring occasionally. Brown the ground pork or turkey with the garlic. Add the browned meat to the mixture...or not;). Stir the cooked rice, the black beans, and the beer into the mixture. Cook over low heat an additional hour. This stuff makes a great, natural topping for just about anything that needs a little help in the flavor department, and is a great remedy for accelerating recovery from a cold or flu. ”

“IK, I know where you're comin' from man,but I was in Northern Ireland in the mid 70's a virtual warzone,playing for the troops. I was driving to a gig and saw a bunch of kids kicking nine shades of hell out of a little one. I stopped to try to help and was rewarded with a petrol bomb that took off all of my bodily hair.I was lucky it was just the fireball,no petrol on me. Its hard to know when or how to react when evil knocks on your door. “Steve, I definitely agree with what you're saying about ways to stop terrorist attacks. The main thing is to just pay attention to your surroundings, so you'll notice when something is out of place. I'm not sure what its like in the UK, but around here, a great deal of our population are too wrapped up in themselves to even notice other people around them. So, they wouldn't be much help in stopping attacks. One example of this oblivion happened recently in a department store. A woman was suffering from some kind of attack (I think an Epileptic seizure, IIRC), flailing around on the floor, and people just went about their business, walking around her as she died. GRRRR!!”

“Exactly, Steve, just use common sense in only using what you need. Its definitely a complex issue, and I don't understand why this event needs all of the flashiness. What purpose do stacks of video monitors with a logo on them serve for the music? None. These shows would look much more sincere if they were spread out even more than they already are, to minimize travel for the artists. They could be in much smaller, maybe even natural, venues with minimal glitz, and be run, solely with photoelectric cells. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm a guy who does what I can to minimize my impact, but I also don't actually subscribe to these radical suggestions I made. But, if they expect to be taken seriously on this issue, then maybe the event should spend a little more time walking the walk and less time talking the talk. I know that many of the participants don't exactly live in modest homes, and they are taking more than they need just due to that. This flies in the face of everything they are trying to stand for. Frankly, I'm glad that Kim and Gabrielle weren't on any of the bills. I had a bit of trouble with the politics and pseudo-science behind it, but when I saw the full scale of the production, it looked rather hypocritical to me.”

First of all, climate change is a part of the natural Earth AND Solar cycle, and water vapor has a MUCH greater effect on this (on Earth) than mankind's CO2 emissions. The other problem is that millions of gallons of fossil fuels were burned to transport this stuff to where it is. Fossil fuels are being burned to provide electrical power to the event. Even in the cases of synthetic fuels, combustion still took place, which released CO2 and water vapor into the atmosphere. So, I guess I'm left a little unsure of the "message" that they keep saying they are getting out.”

“If I could travel to any place and time...well...that's difficult to answer, but here are a few. To be an omniscient observer in Saint Petersburg, Russia during the time of Peter the Great, when that beautiful city was built. It would be quite interesting to me to see how the stunning architecture of that city was constructed in such a harsh environment. Heh...the reason I said "omniscient observer" about this is so I could see how it was done, but not have to cope with the adverse conditions myself. ;) My other choices would be direct involvement at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina in 1903...or at Edwards AFB, California from 1947 on.
