9 months ago I had the pleasure of meeting with you and Kathy for dinner in Soho and it was a real pleasure. The day before at Allbar one we had talked about the person who connected us in the first place, Kim Wilde, but the day after in the restaurant we talked about our own lifes and it was great to get to know you. Hope you have a nice birthday and hope to see you again someday.

“Steve Byrd is *officially* a legend.
From the moment Kim hand-selected him from amongst 100 applicants at an audition at Nomis Studios in London, he was part of the family..
Although we don't see him as often as we should - or would like - it always impresses me that as soon as he and Kim get together, it's as if they've never been apart. They share memories and tour stories and, of course, both have a fairly unique sense of humour
Being non-musical myself, I'm impressed by most players, but Steve is something else. He's one of that rare breed whose instrument almost becomes a part of them, an extension of themselves if you like........and, yes, he really does make it talk!
Happy 50th Steve - I'm not that far behind you!”

I remember we were on the Michael Jackson Bad tour at the time and we went to Sopot on a day off.
It is hard to believe that there was no one to stop the people going onstage but at least everyone was friendly.Kim coped amazingly well as she always does.
We had an overnight drive back to the airport and we were each given a cheese sandwich and a bottle of Vodka.
In fact I think they served Vodka with breakfast too.
The entertainment after the show at a local beach bar included females doing mud wrestling and mud boxing and the whole thing was very surreal.I was quite upset by this but the promoter said it was a good job for the ladies.
Great fun though and great people.”

“Actualy most of you seen Soppot 88 that has been broadcasted from Germany, the Original one i saw in Armenia 1988, when Kim arrived on stage people responded as you can see very WELL, they give her Big wellcome, fans were overwellmed, after Combodia Security's didn't let anyone come to stage give flowers or anything they didn't realize Kim was gona couse such a commotion, Kim sang Keep Me hangin on last song and left the stage, people were screaming and tapping on the floor wanted Kim to come back, the outrageous responce from Polish people were so high that they had to bring Kim back on stage , So Diva was back one more time and she sang for 2nd time "You keep Me hangin on" she was soo already tired you could feel on her voice, it was a very funny and memoriable Live performance..Kim came back to Soppot in 1992, wearing "Who do you think you are " Black elegant suite and lipsing 6-7 songs with her hair up and more calmer, response once again was very big but wasn't as Exciting all scene as the First time around. Not to mention that all Soppot -88-Kim -Look" became her singature look among the youth in our side of Country.”

“Huh, I thought I had rated this one already..? *perplexed* Well, anyway, it's a funny clip for sure, with some excellent live vocals by Kim. However, it is rather alarming that a couple of guys can walk up onto the stage without any security trying to stop them. Luckily, these were harmless (and entertaining) loons - but I'd say that the security (if any even existed!) took a rather unnecessary risk here.
However, I'll lighten up a bit and give this one a nine - it's my fave song performed very well by Kim under pretty unusual circumstances. As Schoolgirl says, Kim's a trooper here as well and that alone makes the clip deserve a high rating.”

I saw "Dancing in the dark" on a Danish TV show back in late 1983 where she was wearing a darkblue shirt and a brown/purple leather miniskirt and black blonde stockings. Her hair is very "just-got-out-of-bed" and looks great. She is so hot and beautiful and it is one of my all time favourite TV moments with Kim. She tries to look moody and cool but at one time where she is loooking right into the camera, she can't help it and smiles for a while - so cute.
Also the german Tommy's popshow where she is wearing the military belt and black lacetop under a denim west is great. And it is live singing. Love that one too.
Then I have later got a lot of French TV shows where she sings DITD but the first two are my favourites. ”

“Another lip synch and besides YKMHO definitely wasn't ever one of my faves *dives for cover* That being said though, it's one of the YKMHO performances that I like the most - for starters, I don't think I've seen any other -89 performance. Mind you, this is from "Review of the 80s", aired Dec 28th -89, so it's just barely -89 ;)
She umm mimes well and yes, I like her looks as well - long hair does become her quite alot. However, my rating is affected by the fact that I don't fancy the song that much, nor do I fancy lip synchs. Inconsistent, am I not? :D”

The video is good for 1982 standard.

And I too wonder what really happened to the girl with the deputy... But the best is that we're not really told anything, we can only imagine it ourselfs...

I remember it being no. 1 on my local radio station (Radio Roskilde) for 2 weeks and I have a chart from a Danish news paper where it peaks at no. 5 also for 2 weeks. It went to no. 38 in the German chart and was also a hit in Sweden.
I think it was a weird choice back then to release a single in only a small part of the world and also a strange choice for a single, but that taken into consideration it did pretty well I guess. The video is awful IMO.”

“this is such a fantastic song i don't understand why it wasn't released in the uk. ”

Sorry to hear about your divorce, Steve. No breakup is ever easy and, worst of all, suddenly everything around you seems to remind you of what you have no choice but to leave behind when you never noticed it before. That crisp autumn perspective tells you that everything is heading for a long cold winter, but in the end is the rebirth of spring. Keep the faith!

Pierre, happy belated birthday, as I've been depressed about my own, but not too much to drink a few and eat like a pig! :-D
By the way, my e-mail is now changed (has been for some time) to Renaissancedudette@msn.com! Lilydendron has been deleted for a long time now. My best to everyone else here, and here's to hoping we see that new album from Kim within the next year!

hi Marcy Marc,

I'm pretty busy at the moment but that last comment by Dgé made me wanna listen to what you did.Don't take it badly but,in my eyes there are songs like this one that are totally untouchable. It's really hard to remix TMT i guess,so you worked hard on it and i could notice it.
Well i did listened to your remix and here's my opinion :

1/I really love the way you began & finished the mix, that's interesting and it takes only one listening to realize it's smart.

2/After the 1st chorus, i tink That's WHERE i liked it less, after 'i want you..' i think it's so hard to change that part, when Kim softly sings 'want me too',THAT is untouchable once again, and it 'kills' your job..

3 a/Then there's the idea to mix 'Take me' fading with the chorus once again and i thought it was a good idea Marc, maybe only once would have been better though.

3 b/That's when maybe, you could have let drums play a little more, creating a good break & then go back to the chorus? There are too many 'chorus reprises' in my opinion, but as there are not so many lyrics in that song,it was clearly no easy job! That's why you used different parts of vocals and sometimes these parts came up a bit too suddenly..

4/Finally the end, with the little notes again is the best idea you had.

This is certainly not the best remix you've done, but obviously one of the hardest,to my mind, you really worked on it,dunno if i could really remix it myself LOL However i think you can do much better! :-)”

“I was so excited to discover this TMT remix... but i am disapointed: it seems to me this remix is like a patchwork without sense, made with a piece here, a piece there... another here.
Sorry, Marc with a C, you know i'm a big fan of your remixes - that's why i express myself so frankly- but i expected more.
And TMT has always been my favorite song on Select with Cambodia and VFAB...
By the way i dedicate this song to the one who knows it.
Lisa, you are a true 'coquine':-)”

“Wow, this a great performance! Kim on top form and looking fab.”

“Aaw this is a really sweet performance and song. I prefer this performance to the video. I wonder how well this song did, does anyone know? And where was it released, cause I don't think it was in the U.K.”
