“Bonjour Wildeones,

Just had a little WTV flashback. It's Christmas holidays 2003 and Dge is shitty with me because I don't believe his story about Kim feeling tired and resting her lovely face on Dge's shoulder. (Personally I think he was upset with me because I stopped giving him virtual spankies on the bottom, which he enjoyed very much, but I needed to stop because it was getting too wierd!) Well Dge darling, je regretts. I was so wrong. After seeing this picture below of Kim feeling up two senior citizens in the front of a car I now know anything is possible.

hugs,
Lisa”

“Okay guys, after a special investigation about the current "Chequered Love" performance in the playlist, here's the final, irrevocable answer.
I talked to the right person, a French guy who actually watched and taped the program himself, more than 20 years ago. The 3-song set including CL is taken from the Midem convention, shot in Cannes (France) in January 1983, and then aired in Eurovision (hence the confusion) on several TV channels. Got it? Pfiouhhh.. :)”
Calanor

“Gareth: Hmm, I must say that I have this recollection of the hosting country tending to let some local talent play a few songs during the Eurovision - note the past tense, I have no idea if that would be the case today (as I haven't followed the contest for years). I might be confusing things, though.”

Pierre
wrote about Chequered Love (Midem):

“Calanor, I never wrote anywhere on this site that Kim was a competitor during the Eurovision contest. I didn't tape that one myself but I was told that the 3-track live performance (Chequered Love, Cambodia & Kids) was played at the occasion of that special event, which requires validation. All I know is that some parts of the footage were re-used, in particular by an American TV program as the background of an interview of Kim. As for the date, it can be late '82 or early '83, considering the clothes and haircut, and the fact that Steve has joined the band.”

Calanor

“Gareth: Hmm, the pages I've checked state that it took place in Apr 24, 1982, though :P Well, that's irrelevant in this case - it's clear that this clip can't be from the song conest, so I am assuming that Dgé's correct :)”

But i have to apologize: i am mistaken with the date; in fact, the show was broadcasted in March 83.
Here are my last words with this topic.

Calanor

“Oh, just checked some stuff - Euro 1982 was in April. Kim does not look like an 82 April Kim to me - more importantly, Byrd (who's clearly visible in the clip) wasn't a member of the gang in April 1982, so something's wrong.”
Calanor
wrote

“Dgé: Well, Jan 83 is pretty close to um Nov or whenever the Eurovision took place. Again, I know that I watched this Eurovision broadcast, I had been strucked by Cambodia etc by then, yet I cannot recall seeing Kim during the Eurovision, which I find a bit odd *still looking at Pierre* I recall "Ein bisschen Frieden", but not Kim :(”
Dgé

“Calanor, i'm quite sure for the Midem; i was in front of my screen when they played the show, i was eating popcorn, and drinking my glass of milk, and had fever cause i caught a cold... oh my god, poor boy!

Realised, however, that that's kind of stupid really - this is right up my alley after all. A Select Kimmy singing one of her hits from the RAK era - and delivering it with quite a bit of energy, too. Also, the occasion itself is interesting - until quite recently, I wasn't even aware of the fact that Kim had performed at the Eurovision Song Contest - and it's annoying that I can't recall her performance, as I know that I was watching the contest on the telly back in -82. *frowns*”

“Hello there!

The new Klapisch seems to be as cool as the previous 1, that s right. He talks to us and about us, caresses our personnalities. Of course I ll go watching his new hit! Maybe in 4 years he ll take the same and put them in a 40s environment and they ll become the new Ewing!
Talking about divas James, yesterday night was the opening of a photo exibition in my town, the presentation of the work of a photographer and a writer. I was 1 of their models so I had to go (and I do hate people who act like the jet set when they don t have any natural class in their blood. It s so boring and out of time, isn t it?) But I played the game and went there, picked up the champagne and smiled all the way (I thought I was Samantha from Sex in your City, James. I was fabulous and so beautiful!) A polish girl was introduced to me, she only spoke german and I started a metaphorik speech about "Fight Club" with her. With all the champagne I had already drunk, it was quite a sporty effort, I mean german... My tongue is not made for german. And she laughed at each and every word I told her, she said I m fabulous and very good looking, and I answered "Thank you my deeeeeeeeaar Silvia. Now go watching "Fight Club", a whole generation s movie."
Another model was an old Claudette (a famous 60s/70s in France called Claude François always had dancing dolls around him, the Claudettes.) Now she must be between 50 and 60. When she arrived I thought "Wow, I never know Eddy Monsoon was so shy and introvert..." The woman had coverd her bones with a flamenco black dress and wore a pink hat and foulard. The most artificial eyes I ever saw... 1 of my friends is a tranvestite and Monroe s blood goes through his veins. He s an incredibly charismatik man. He s always surrounded by wannabees, lesbians and shy gay men who chose him as a second mother. When he arrived, he was waiting for the flashes and cameras on him and he came to me, dropped me in the ear "You know how much I hate this kind of event...", I told him "Drink something and it becomes a funny thing!"
After that a TV man asked him and me for an interview and just like Kim a few years ago, I answered him "Are you kidding me? Without make up on TV???" No, I was simply too drunk to go in front of a camera. So I pushed my friend and while he answered the journalist, the old skinny diva told me in a ghostly and very cold way "It s so sad I m living that depression, I would love to be on TV, I used to work for TV so I know what to say..." And I told her "You shouldn t be so sad you know, life s what you make it." And she started to cry with her big and artificial eyes... Crying about the good old days, about her youth. When there s nothing else than your image that counts, become older can become a tragedy.
So divas... are divas because of their tragiK quality and Beauty.

“Oooh baby, baby is it a Wilde world?
I wish you all have a good time, I had a wonderful time in my secret garden in France. There a few cities on our dear old planet Earth that move something in my stomach and Marseille is 1 of them. I just love love love that southern and algerian mood in the air. Even if I don t see any particular good reason to write that everything s fine, I had the perfect time during that little holiday out of life. No watches to remind you a meeting or something, just a perfect lover, a perfect best friend and her lovely little boy. Good food, good quality of sleeping by the sea, nice people giving their best to make you feel good. Champagne all over again and... all that in a natural setting that looks as good as Saint Teresa s garden in Heaven! Well, what else could I dream of?
Got my diamonds, got my yacht, got a guy I adore... I m so happy with what I ve got, I want MORE!!!
Sorry, I got carried away by the hard, strong and beautiful Dick (Tracy, of course!)
Well, while Wilde improves her gardening skills, finally getting her credits with her creations, I hope you all realise some of your dreams!
Aware of new music boys & girls?

Go for the cool M.I.A ragga. A very young girl (not 20 yet) with an incredible life and an incredible talent. (A next best thing James, sort of a postmodern diva. The kind of Beauty who ll answer any journalist "What the f*** is the point of being a star?"
Conclusion: just be. The rest will follow!

Enjoy yourselves mates and don t forget you can surf on a rocket, wheeeeeeeeeeeee!”

“Great performance/alternate video - love it better than the original video (don't be mad about me calanor) her outfit is so much better in this video, and it is far more exciting than that red coloured official clip.”

“Telemachus: As for the VFAB clip, I am not sure that I agree. It'd be too explicit, in my opinion. Actually, while I do like the Hot For The Dog clip, I also feel that it takes away some of the "mystery" of the song. VFAB was meant to be a "mystery" song, as was to some extent Cambodia and such - so I'd not want to see Kimmy's body floating in the Thames (well, obviously, but you get my point :P )”

“I might get lynched here or something, but I have got some serious problems with Hit Him. They did leave out the Sam Fox moaning in this performance, though *ponders quietly*
Kim's performance is alright though, but it's hard for me to disregard the fact that I truly dislike this song, for several reasons. I have little choice but to give it one of my lowest ratings so far.”

“Ooh, I have always loved this song! That's my mama's advice about jerks too! I would have preferred to see Kim in a dress, because her legs are awesome in pumps, but this is cool. By the way Pierre, mondo styling with the new pic. You look, in the words of Holly Golightly, "tres distengue!"”
