Lisa, you'll never be so wrong !
Vote for Another Step 'cos it's the thrill of it.. can you feel it ?? Raaahhh, that keyboard ā la Kate Bush... much better than the annoying synth intro of "Who do you think you are" !!

This is um...awful. You have lots of great live videos with Kim and her band, and this one doesn't even come close to okay. The band sounds good, but Kim she seems to be having some trouble with the melody. The backup singers are the worst. They're off-key, 75% of the time. Now the live video for "It's Here is excellent!

Meant to reply to messages asked about the thrill of it.I wrote it with Kim at her apartment when she lived near St.Johns Wood ,London. It was one of the first of many songs we would write together over the years.Technology was in its infancy in the early 80's and Kim was coping with her first steps into Information Technology or as we all say IT. Therefore it was her first thrill with a new computer and of course you have to turn a computer on as the lyric says in the chorus.Hope that makes sense............
Of course I'm only joking.......sorry.Its really about Love and Sex.
I had a wonderful time with some of your members at Kims gig by the sea recently.
Pierre is a dude and Krasi and her husband are lovely.
Any females in the London area want to meet for a chat, send me a mail.
Love to y'all.
Steve Byrd (Kim's guitarist for many years.)

Who made the hair on those backing singers!!! - So 80's...Kim on the other hand is lovely and the song which I haven't heard for a while is actually quite nice. I loved her in that outfit back then but didn't she use it a bit often like the leathersuits nowadays?

Her voice does sound very strong in this song ! Agree James!

I just love "The Thrill Of It".. the album version! The keyboard in the middle is just fantastic (reminds me of Kate Bush) with the "ah ha haaa"... one of the best tracks from "Another Step". But this live version just s*cks. I don't like the way Kim looks (those earings !), the sexophonist looks like he escaped a Tina Turner concert, and what about those backing singers from Hell ?! Another thing (Pierre Le Webmestre is going to smile at that) : Kim, as usual, sings "Yeah yeah" too many times ! It's getting on my nerves, really ! The "Another step into Europe tour" was great musically, maybe not as good as the "Rage to Rock tour". The highlights were "View From A Bridge" (excellent submarine sounds !), "Fever/Love Blonde", "She hasn't got time for you" (played at a higher speed, a bit like the '88 remix) and "Say you really want me" (I know, I'm getting old). Maybe Pierre Le Webmestre will play one of those tracks someday ;-)

Raising my rating slightly (7 + 9 = um, somewhere around 8?) - to some extent due to the very reasons Lisa mentioned. Also, I realised that it felt weird that I gave this one the same rating as SYRWM @ The Roxy :P I still don't fancy the chorus much, though ;)
2004-07-26 11:32

What the hell, going to give it a 10, because everything about the 80's is in this performance - dangly earlings, a sax solo, two Eurithimics haircuts for the price of one, and a clasic "turn me oo ooo oon" from the boys in the band!
2004-07-25 22:54

Hmm, Another Step, huh? Hmm, well, this song isn't too bad, I suppose, but I agree with Karl - I am not too keen on the chorus either. I must say, though - and this might come as a surprise to all of you - that I prefer the Cambodia performance from the same concert :D

I absolutely love it! Kim is a great live singer, isn't she?
2004-07-25 15:58

No no no Karl, I'm not comparing the girls,(learnt my lesson from Kimwilde.com) I simply remember Madonna doing something similar in Everbody (think it was released late 81 or 82) lol it's a lot better than looking like a hyperactive aerobics instructor (ie Miss Spears live performance of Toxic)
2004-07-25 15:53

Cool! I love this song and it's nice to see an album song performed for a change. And oh look, it's Julia Fordham again doing back-up. That short blonde do doesn't suit her at all. Kim looks good though.
2004-07-25 15:29

Karl, I beg to differ, there's nothing wrong with the chorus, it's just fabulous! Great to see the backup girls stop doing the electric slide towards the end of the song though...(phew)I give this one a nine, because I'm so impressed with Kim's free-style dancing (as always) Do you think it was inspired by Madonna's Everybody?
2004-07-25 14:37

Now The thrill of it.. funny haircuts right!..but hey it was '86! Good perf,Kim sings it very well but the chorus sounds little bad, maybe because it's much too different compared to Kim's voice..anyway it's fine,i always loved The thrill of it,i love its energy, good choice Pierre!

Oh Kim, do you know the thrill of me watching your drummer shapes? I give his muscles a burning 10 and I give your chorist a... horse! I see her on a wild ride crosscountry! The sexophonist Richard... Is he sexy? Never as you, rock bird!

See baby, you ve taken another stage and now you rock! You do it rather well (even if my computer seems to be f*cked after a while, I don t see you 'til the end, is it normal Monsieur Du Web?) Kim, was it Rick s wife doing everybody s hair onstage? If yes, she must have taken the same substances as Lewis Caroll while writing "AliCe In Wonderland", she got high on your chorist s hair! HILARIOUS!!! I sometimes think your live tracks were too speed and that it broke a bit of your music spirit, it s absolutely not the case here. You seem to feel comfortable singing with your band playing it live. A professional live trak to my ears. I give you a 9 my girl, gimme 5!
2004-07-25 11:44

So incredibly 80's, yet the song is so flattering for her voice/vocal range isn't it?
2004-07-25 10:41

I heard this song was actually written by Kim Wilde and Steve Byrd. Steve, explain to us the meaning behind this song...hmmmm!
2004-07-25 03:52

Seems to freeze in the middle of the performance, so can't finish watching it!
