Pat, are you kidding me?! Babe, I wished she'd released EVERYTHING she's ever done. That Kids in America don't stand a chance alongside half of the debut album, nevermind the FAR better stuff that followed. Kim has ALWAYS done quality b-sides that, unlike most people's ones are actually brilliant, full of atmosphere, beauty, brains, melody and have HIT written all over them! Enough said. Her record company screwed up since the beginning of 'Time'-trust them to see the 'safe' album close as most useful for hits. Hello ALL her 80s albums are full of them, as is Love Is, Never Say Never and ALL her b-sides and the b-side to 'Born To Be Wild' is excellent. Typical it's a b-side. I want 'Lovers On A Beach' in it's proper 8minute glory put on CD. Why does Kim NEVER do double a/sides?! God I could kill her management!

As this is one of Kimmy's best ever tracks, I'm glad to hear that you didn't try to improve it. Your decision to make it wholly instrumental works superbly and could be put in the record shops today!

In mood for that kind of cool melody on a select sound today... My mum told me 1 day that if everybody could realise their chilhood dreams there would be less wars on the surface of planet Earth, I guess she was right and I would take "Lovers On A Beach" as the soundtrack of that truthful and deep thought.

That's great Marc! I've done a "Lisa" and found myself singing along minus Kim. The only other times I've done this is at a karaoke when I have sang "Kids In America", "You Keep Me Hangin' On" and "If I Can't Have You" (the only Kim songs I've ever seen at a karaoke).

On that song I remember Bananarama s sweet & sour "What a fool that I should ever believe in Love, Truth & Honesty..." Sometimes I think that I should ve been the one inventing Love, it would be so much easier!

This song is great for me, because I can try to be Kim and sing along to some parts!
So jealous of some of the French people on this forum who might be swimming in an exotic beach somewhere off the South of France! pffff

I remember buying the original 12" single of "The Second Time". It has been my favorite Kim Wilde 12" single for a long time : on the A-side, a completely crazy version of "The Second Time" à la Frankie Goes to Hollywood, and on the B-side, an extended version of "Lovers on the beach" (almost 8 minutes long!). What a treat !

I've been wanting to listen to this for so long... especially since I don't have the original anymore (am I the only one who wishes Kim had re-relased all the brillant b-sides of her pre-CD days? This, along with Loving You and Putty In Your Hands is among the finest things she's done)
