Rashid's an idiot. Cheesy. The 'Kids' vid is downright dull compared with this and I've already observed the vid is better than the song it accompanies. But here's a different story. The 1st truly professional job, it looks great, suprisingly fresh yet expectedly steamy without any of the 'Ive gotta take my clothes ff and masturbate' Madonna/Annie Lennox crap going on. AND she makes clear to all, unless the deaf and blind still affront, that she was a real rock chck, not some pretty barbie-doll singer with o brain and plastic tunes and everywhere else. It's also a shame that after these 1st few vids, her band wouldn,t really feature in them anymore t this extent. I can see what Michael meant, loving Kids but wanting her album as soon as this song came out. Yet better was yet to come. If ever an artist proved a debut is a starting point and really ony as important as all that beyond a few gr8 new wave chillers on the albums 2nd side, she did with her uniquely fab follow-up Select-an album so amazingly dynamic, chilly and suprising, it's like having 10 mini-movies acted breathtakingly back to back in your ears, your mind giving you the rest. 10/10 Kim for this vid and song.
I for one adore this video.
As a boy obsessed in cheque's I die for the set... I so want this bathroom! The black tiles are brilliant and it's so 1981!!! Kim looks heaven, hot and tasty. Love the camp shower scenes and rock chick attitude. Now this is girl power!!! Oh the writing on the mirror in lipstick is to die 4!!! And of course Kim fixing her hair... YUMMMMMM!!!!!!

Hey, Mark. That's funny, because I was thinking the same thing. We have a bathroom cleaner here made by Dow. Little scouring bubbles that go down the drain as they say, "We work hard so you don't have too-ooo!" Woosh, and they're gone!

Early 80's and good one, i think very sweet and sexy, I like the shower scenes Kim seem loving this song she keeps opening her Tours with Chequered Love, works for her. I preffer she open the concert with "View From the Bridge "
I don't really get the setting of this vid and I would assume that neither did Kim. Still, it's a good vid in the sense that it shows off Kimmy's rock chick attitude in a good way - always withdrawing from the cam but still looking you straight in the eye. Very sexy, yet untouchable. And of course, we've got the shower scene, something a kid around 12 had some problems getting out of his head the first time he saw this vid. Oh, those were the days :P
Kim... so many suggestions in this video, I love it! Do you pee like a man darling? Go and smash the mirror girl, you know we love you under the shower or under the rain never trusting a stranger! Bad bad girl who wants to rock our bodies, grrrrrr!
This is how I like our Kim, total rock chick, bad attitude, great pout (à la bardot or not)Although I am more into dance and R&B, I have always preferred Kim in rock tunes, especially those from the first three albums. Fav video: View from a bridge. Haircut a la Wilde, she looks better than ever (before or after, to my taste), and moves very sexily, without offering herself lascively, the way Kylie would in almost all her videos. The 'View from' video is , hum, basic, it has always been the attitude AND of course, the distinctive voice I've been after.
Alisue, it's nice to know there are others who enjoy French and Saunders. By the way, Two DVDs have been released recently (best of in two volumes, or in one (must of') and there is also a live DVD. I like Jean Cocteau, and 'Les Enfants Terribles' is one hell of a book, but I read it a while ago. Is that the one with the snow ball, thrown by one of the kids' classmates, a metaphor for a boy being (love) struck by another boy? Beautiful and tragic, if I remember well. I choose, however, a beautiful AND optimistic perspective on life, my fascination with pathos is long over (it has still exhausted quite a few psychanalysts ;-) (just kidding) Totally unrelated:I love London, I love living here, it is so alive, so much to do and to see. Am also glad to return to France for the winter holidays, by the way. Cheers, you all!
When MTV started I instantly loved Kids in America. I thought that she was pretty cool. When I saw this video, I feel in love with her music & ran out & bought the LP & wore it out. Great song, video, and of course artist
I was actually waiting for an ad for Bathroom tile cleaner to pop up during the video. Still a great video none the less.

Quite a nice video considering the low budget of it. There are a lot of sexual symbols, especially when Kim takes a shower. Could Brian de Palma have directed this video secretly ?
This video has to be one of the cheesiest video's for her, but it's funny too. Especially when she smashes the mirror. I always laugh at that bit, cause it's looks so stupid and false! She looks nice in the shower though!
